Why Can’t Download Apps on Playstore – When you see the Google Play Store page can’t load quickly, or can’t download apps, it might be something you can’t do. Activities become distracted and may affect your productivity. However the Google Play Store is man-made and can crash, errors are a common occurrence with digital devices.
Why Can’t Download Apps on Playstore
Even though you have the latest, most sophisticated, and most expensive smartphone in its class, it doesn’t mean you are free from the problems of the Playstore application. App download issues are common on the best Android phones and even on some budget smartphones, regardless of price or hardware. Hardware limitations can indeed play a big role as they won’t allow you to download, load or even open certain apps. Therefore you need to know the cause of the problem downloading applications on the Playstore.

Check your storage and SD card
If your device is running low on space, it may slow down and prevent you from downloading and installing new apps and updates. To see the available space, try the following:
- open Settings -> Storage.
- Category list will display how much space that each category uses on your device.
- If the available space is less than 1 GB, try deleting some old photos, videos, and apps that you don’t use, then try again.
An improperly set up SD card can also slow down the installation of apps on your phone. Try removing it, then reinserting it to see if that solves your problem.
Check your Wifi or mobile data connection
The second problem could be due to a problematic wifi connection. If you are using Wifi, you can see the strength of your connection in your device settings. You can also try loading the website using your browser of choice or testing your internet speed.
How to see your Wifi connection:
- open Arrangement.
- Select menu network and internet.
- Choose Wi-Fi and see if you are connected.
- If you are connected, you can tap the Wifi name and see signal strength.
You can also use mobile data to download apps, but keep in mind that this will likely count towards your monthly allowance. After you confirm that your data connection is enabled, try again.
To download apps from the Play Store using your mobile data:
- open Play Store then open the menu by tapping your profile picture at the top right.
- open Arrangement and select app download preferences.
- select Via mobile data network.
- Try downloading again and see if it continues.
- Restart device You
- If your connection seems stable and reliable, You may just need to restart your device. A simple restart can often fix most problems, so it’s worth giving it a try and see if that solves the problem. Press the power button then select ‘reload’.

Clear Play Store app cache and data
If none of the steps above helped resolve your issue, you can try something different this time. Clearing cache and data for apps can often solve most problems, especially if they are related to downloading and loading large files or lots of content.
- Go to Settings -> then select Apps & notifications.
- You will see all the applications installed on your cellphone, then select Google Play Store.
- Select Storage & cache then tap Clear storage and Clear cache.
- Go back to Play Store and try downloading again.
- Uninstall and reinstall Play Store and Play Services updates
If none of the options work to date, you may have to take a few more steps to try and get them to work. One option is to uninstall and reinstall the Google Play Store itself:
- Go to Settings then select Apps & notifications.
- Tap See all apps and find the Google Play Store.
- Tap on Google Play Store and select the 3 dots in the upper right corner, then select Uninstall update.
- If at any time you are asked to change back to the factory version of the app, tap OK.
- Repeat the same steps for Google Play Services.
- Once done, try again.
For good measure, it is recommended that you restart your phone at this point and install any and all updates once the device is turned back on.
Check for Android system updates
If your download is still stuck, you should check if your device has any updates or security patches available. Sometimes these security updates and patches can help solve common problems.
To see if you have an update available for your device, try the following:
Go to Settings -> System -> and tap on Advanced.
Tap System Update. If nothing new appears, click the Check for updates button to double-check.
Delete and re-add your Google Account to your device
Another step is to delete and re-add your Google account to your device. Before doing this, it is recommended that you backup your account one last time to make sure everything is saved to the cloud. This will prevent accidental loss of data linked to your account.
Go to Settings and tap Account.
- Select the account you want to delete -> Delete account.
- If necessary, enter your device PIN or password.
- To add your account:
Go to Settings.
- Tap Account -> Add account -> Select Google.
- Follow the instructions.
- Go to Google Play Store and select your account in the top right corner.
- Try and download again.

Restart your device
If you don’t download anything and your connection is fine, but your downloads are still pending, you should try restarting your device. This may be another easy step, but it is a very effective one. Just press and hold the power button on your device, then tap Restart.
Download the app via your browser instead
You can try to avoid the problem of pending app downloads by getting your apps via your mobile browser or PC. You just need to visit the official Google Play website and log in to your Google account. After successful download, type the name of the app you want in the search bar. Find among the results and click.
Is your download still pending? Sometimes only updates or security patches are needed. To check the status of the application you can check it in the settings menu.
- Scroll through your smartphone page after selecting the settings menu > select the ‘about’ section or about the phone > Software update > Check now. If an update appears, install it, and hope for the best.
You can also check if the Google Play Store requires the update itself. Open the app, press the menu button, followed by Settings > About > Play Store version. If there is a newer version, it will be downloaded automatically once you tap on the Play Store version.
