If the flash disk contains important data, such as credit card data, school assignments or company data that is really needed, it will certainly be very problematic. You will definitely be desperately looking for ways how so that the flash drive can be repaired. Fortunately, there are several ways that can be used to solve an unreadable flash drive on the computer. However, this method can’t guarantee that the flash drive can top up immediately, just like that. But there’s nothing wrong if you try it first.
Tutorial on Fixing an Unreadable Flashdisk on a Computer
Here, I will write down a method that can be used to repair (recovery) a damaged and unreadable flash drive on a laptop or computer easily.
Method 1: Check Laptop USB
It could be that your flash drive is not damaged and just fine, but your computer’s USB has a problem. So from that, you first check the USB of your computer or PC first.
- Check the cleanliness of the computer USB. Make sure that your computer’s USB does not have dirt that clogs up
- Test with another flash drive. Use another flash drive to make sure that the computer USB is fine. Plug another USB flash drive into the computer. Use several flashdisks so that the results are past. If it reads, it means the computer USB is fine. The problem is with the flash disk. If the first method of your flash drive works well, then use the next method.
Method 2: Check Flashdisk
If your computer’s USB is fine, then you have to check the USB flash port. It could be that your USB flash drive port is having problems. To know it well, use the following method:
- Check fіsk USB flash port. Worried it’s dirty or there are broken parts, then first check your USB flash drive port first
- Test on several USB computers. Plug your USB flash drive into several USBs on your computer. You can also use another computer to test your flash drive
If it’s still unreadable, your flash drive may crash or damage to hardware. You try other ways to solve it.
Fix Unreadable Flashdisk, Method 3: Clean USB Flashdisk
If you’re worried that the flash drive that you have won’t be read because the USB port or flash connector is dirty, then you’re on your way to cleaning the flash port. To clean it, you use eucalyptus oil that is at home. Follow the following steps:
- Pour just a little eucalyptus oil on the USB flash drive plate
- Then brush and scrub with a soft brush
- Gently rub until the dirt on the flash is gone
- Then, wipe with a tissue until it’s dry
- Connect to a computer or laptop
If after cleaning and you connect the flash drive to the computer it reads well, it means that your flash drive is dirty. But if when you connect to a computer and it still doesn’t read, then you have to try another method.
Method 4: Scan and Repair Drіve
Microsoft Windows has an embedded flash scan feature by default. You can use this feature to fix a flash disk that is not read by a computer. The scanning process will show whether or not there is damage to the flash disk. If there is damage, then Windows can immediately repair it. The way to repair an unreadable flash drive with the scanning process is, as follows:
- Plug the flash drive on the computer USB. Please plug the flash drive on your computer’s USB which is safe
- Click the Windows button. The Windows button is in the lower right corner of your computer screen menu, it’s a round blue color
- Click control panel. To find your flash driver settings on your computer,
- Click on device manager. To set up and enter your flash drive, click on the device manager menu (Device Manager)
- Right click on your flashdisk. You will be faced with various device drivers connected to the computer. Select your flash drive, then right click
- Click scan for hardware change. A popup menu will appear, just click on the scan menu for hardware change
After scanning, a description will appear whether your flash driver has a problem or not. If there is a problem, there is usually a yellow mark on your flash drive. All you have to do is click repair to fix it.
