A Series of Steps Arranged Into a Logical Sequence to Achieve a Named Goal – One can reveal the truth based on logical reasoning. With the available evidence, one can judge the truth of the statement to finally arrive at a decision.
Logic is also referred to as a tool to guard against erroneous reasoning. A person needs logical reasoning skills in order to produce correct conclusions. Some of the benefits that will be obtained after studying logic include the following:
- (1) Keeping us always thinking right using systematic principles.
- (2) Make the mind sharper and make it more developed.
- (3) Make everyone think carefully, objectively, and effectively in communicating.
- (4) Increase the love of truth and avoid the fallacy of reason.
How about the comparison of the dominant right brain, which is more colorful and human, if it only prioritizes logic without feeling? Should students be taught like robots with senseless programs and commands? In giving an explanation, would it be better to be moderate and well described? The way the brain works is more real if you visualize it.
One of the functions of logic is as a tool to draw conclusions. We can use this tool after doing reasoning based on the existing true statements (premises). Reasoning for drawing conclusions is divided into two types, namely deductive and inductive reasoning patterns.
a. Deductive Drawing conclusions that move from general to specific true statements. Example: General All SMK students must be disciplined and responsible. Specifically, Sandi is a SMK student.
Conclusion: Passwords must be disciplined and responsible.
b. Inductive Drawing conclusions that move from specific to general true statements. Example: Especially Devi is diligent in studying. He got satisfactory results. Especially Yuda is diligent in studying. He got satisfactory results. Especially Tika is diligent in studying. He got satisfactory results.
Conclusion: Students who study hard will get satisfactory results.
2. Algorithm
After studying the related logic of “how humans think correctly”, then we will discuss “how to have a good solution”. To get a good solution, it takes a strategy or systematic steps in order to solve the problem in the best way.
Example: Dina is a student of SMK class X. Every day, she goes to school after doing breakfast. One day, when Dina was going to breakfast, what was available was only rice without vegetables and side dishes. Then, it occurred to Dina to make stir-fried tempeh bean sprouts with the following steps:
- (1) Prepare bean sprouts, tempeh, chili, shallots, garlic, galangal, and other necessary ingredients.
- (2) Slice the onion, garlic, chili, and galangal.
- (3) Heat the oil and add all the sliced ingredients.
- (4) Fry the tempeh briefly.
- (5) Add bean sprouts, sweet soy sauce, salt, and a little water.
- (6) Stir until all the spices are absorbed.
- (7) Taste the taste. If there is a lack of taste, add other spices to taste.
- (8) Stir-fried bean sprouts are ready to be served.
The example above is a problem solving using problem solving steps called an algorithm. An algorithm is a series of steps arranged into a logical sequence of activities to achieve a goal.
Every day, when a person does an activity, he will choose which one to do first, for example when he wakes up, has breakfast, even when he wears clothes in the morning. A good algorithm is a correct and reasonable action.
