The internet was shocked by the case of breaching Facebook user data by a third-party application in April, now after Facebook, this time another big company, namely Google, has been accused that the company allows third-party applications to be able to access its users’ private emails in Gmail.
The report confirms that third-party app developers who have been granted permission can view the details of a user’s gmail account including the user’s email id, delivery timestamp or timestamp, the entire contents of the user’s email, and much more.
Google hasn’t done anything about it yet, but states that the filtering process is already underway and only trusted apps or companies can add Gmail modules within their apps. That means Gmail hasn’t upgraded the app permission settings for better
Then what actions should users take to keep the email data and its contents safe? moreover internet users mostly use Gmail as their email service.
You can take the following steps to keep your Gmail account safe, namely by reviewing and removing the permissions of third-party applications that are not important or are no longer used.
Steps to Remove Gmail Third Party App Permissions Via PC
The process to see which apps have access to your Gmail account is very easy. All you have to do is follow the steps I’ve provided below to review third-party apps and revoke access that you no longer use.
1. Visit your account page at Google account page via the desktop browser and select “Applications that can access the account” in the menu Login & security.

2. You will find out which third-party applications you have granted access to Gmail, then select “MANAGE APPLICATIONS”.

3. In the list of applications that have been granted access permissions, you can search for them quickly by pressing ‘CTRL+F’ on windows or ‘CMD+F’ on mac.

4. Click on the application that you no longer use or the application that you think is unsafe, then click ”REMOVE ACCESS” in the upper right corner. and now your account will be safe from unwanted third party plugins or apps.

Steps to Remove Gmail Third Party App Permissions Via Android
If you want to check and uninstall third party apps through your Android device, then you have to go to “Settings > Google > Google Account” to see the settings in your google account. Next navigate to the “Security” tab, scroll down and press “Manage third party access” to view the app and revoke access permissions to your gmail account.
It is highly recommended that you follow the steps above at least once every few months to see if you have inadvertently allowed a third-party app into your Google account whether it’s Gmail, Google Play, or any other Google service. At least the steps above will protect your account until Google changes its access permission settings, you must be aware of the threats posed by malicious applications. Only allow third-party apps that have a good developer reputation and ratings.
That’s how to overcome Gmail content that can be read by third-party applications, if this post is useful, don’t forget to share it.
