Install Darktable 2.2.4 on Ubuntu, Adobe Lightroom Alternative Application
Darktable is an image processing application that focuses on the needs of the world of photography. Darktable is used to help edit and process raw digital photos to make them look better.
If you hear image processing applications, you may have often heard of several other popular open source applications for image processing purposes such as (GIMP) GNU Image Manipulation Program, Krita, MyPaint, Inkscape and others.
But Darktable is different from the applications mentioned above. If GIMP were more focused on image manipulation and could do retouch a lot, Darktable is more focused on retouch and image processing for photographic purposes such as managing files RAW or raw files so that they become mature files, by changing the color to be more beautiful, adjusting the brightness and dark levels of the image, cleaning noise in the photos captured by the camera and others.

Therefore, Darktable which is a free application as well as open source used as an alternative application by many users who cannot or do not want to buy licensed applications. But many also like and deliberately prefer to use Darktable compared to paid applications.
Even as an app open source which can be used for free, the capabilities and features possessed by Darktable are quite capable. Darktable has many features needed for photography purposes. Darktable is widely used by professional and amateur photographers.
Darktable is an app open source and multi-platform. Besides being able to be used on the GNU/Linux operating system, Darktable is also available for use on the OS X and Solaris operating systems. The latest version of the Darktable app is Darktable 2.2.4.
Install Darktable 2.2.4 on Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10
Actually on official repository Ubuntu already has a Darktable application that you can install directly without using it PPA repository other additions. Only Darktable is available on official repository Ubuntu is an old version of Darktable.
While on official repository Ubuntu still provides an old version of Darktable. You can install the latest version of Darktable, namely Darktable 2.2.4 by using PPA repository following on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10 and Ubuntu derivatives such as Linux Mint and so on.
The latest version of Darktable has various updates such as improvements from the previous version, additional features that can make you more creative and easier to process images, as well as improvements from the previous version. bugs which was in the previous version.
To install the latest version of Darktable or Darktable 2.2.4 .Open Terminal on your Ubuntu by pressing the combination keyboard / shortcuts CTRL+ALT+T, or open Terminal from the application menu on your Ubuntu.
Then enter the following command in Terminal to add PPA repository in order to install Darktable 2.2.4. You cancopy the command and then paste in Terminal by pressing the combination keyboards / shortcuts CTRL + SHIFT + V:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
Then do updates by entering the following command in Terminal to update the list repository and application list:
sudo apt-get update
Wait for the process update repository and list applications to completion and make sure there are no notifications error When update process the. After process updates finished. You can install Darktable 2.2.4 by using the following command:
sudo apt-get install darktable
Wait for the Darktable 2.2.4 installation process to complete. Make sure the installation process works perfectly and there are no notifications error during the installation process.
After the installation process is complete. Open Darktable in the Ubuntu Dash if you are using Ubuntu or in the application menu. You can do processing on the photos captured by your camera as you want so that the photos become more beautiful.
