How to Move Apps to Android’s Dedicated Memory Card – Smartphones with an Android operating base will usually have two types of storage, namely internal and external storage. When the user downloads the application the data will be automatically saved to this internal memory. However, internal storage is usually very limited, unlike external memory which is easy to upgrade and usually has a larger capacity. Therefore knowing how to move applications to the memory card will be very useful for android users.
The reason is, memory cards as external storage are usually larger in capacity than internal memory. This transfer will also lighten the workload of the smartphone. The following are the steps to move the application to a special memory card for Android smartphones:
How to Move Apps to Android’s Dedicated Memory Card
1. Open the Settings Menu

The first thing that Android users need to do is open the ‘Settings’ menu on the Android smartphone. If the smartphone is set in English then this menu will be ‘Settings’. In this menu look for the option ‘Devices’ or ‘Devices’ on some smartphones this menu is called ‘Device Settings’.
On the menu there will be another menu option that contains managerial contents of the smartphone device including storage memory and applications that have been installed. Scroll the menu until you find the ‘Applications’ menu or on some smartphones it is called ‘Application Manager’ or ‘Manage Applications’
2. Selecting the Applications You Want to Move

On the ‘Application Manager’ menu, users will find a list of applications that have been downloaded and installed on their smartphone. In this setting, the application settings can be set starting from notifications, internet usage settings in the application, and of course the storage position of the application. Look for applications that are indeed a burden on the device if stored on the internal storage. It’s a good idea if the application being moved is an additional application downloaded from the Play Store. Not the default application that already exists on previous android smartphones.
3. Tap the App You Want to Move

The next step of how to move applications to the memory card is to open the settings for the application you want to move. Tap on the app icon on the previous list of apps then the user will be taken to the settings of that app on the device. At the bottom of the app settings list there will usually be app settings for notifications, internet usage, battery usage, and manage storage. Click on the ‘Manage Storage’ section on some smartphones this setting will be named ‘Storage’ only.
4. Change the Storage Used

The user will be under on the selected application storage settings. The next menu will show the size of the application, the data stored, and of course where the application is stored. On the left side of the list there will usually be a ‘Move to SD Card’ button which the user just clicks on. But on some android smartphones this button says ‘Change’ .
5. How to Move Apps to Memory Card, Select SD card as New Storage Target

If the button is ‘Move to SD Card’ then the user just has to wait until the process is complete then the application has moved to the memory card. However, if the button reads ‘Change’ then the user will then be asked to select the target memory for application storage. At this stage select the SD card or memory card as the target application storage.
That’s how to move applications to a special memory card on an Android smartphone. Keep in mind this move does not mean the application has been moved completely to the memory card. Only part of the data is moved, there is still application data left in the internal memory to maximize usage. After being moved it means that the application can only be used if the memory card is installed and if not, then the application cannot be fully used.
