How to Make a Modem Connection on Linux Manjaro
If we are new to using Linux, it is very natural that we have confusion in doing some things that need to be done, even though it is an easy and basic thing in operating the operating system, such as how to manage folders, install applications and so on.
Actually it’s not a difficult thing to do, but as new users, we are not used to the basics. Therefore, in this post I will provide a tutorial on the basics, namely how to make a connection or connect a modem to Linux, especially Linux Manjaro with the KDE desktop.
Steps to Make a Modem Connection on Linux Manjaro
Plug the modem or mobile broadband that you have into the usb port, make sure the modem is legible which is indicated by the indicator light on the modem.
After reading the modem, on the toolbar at the bottom right of your manjaro desktop, select the computer-shaped icon. Then a series of menus appear, select the configure netwrok connection icon on the far right as shown in the picture.

Then the connection editor menu will open, click Add and select Mobile Broadband to create a new modem connection.

You will be asked to select a mobile broadband device or modem that you will use to make a new connection, select your device or it will usually be selected automatically when you have plugged in your device.
However, if your device is unreadable or you don’t plug in the modem, just choose one of the Any GSM Connection or Any CDMA Connection according to your GSM or CDMA device, then click Next

Select the country provider (sim card) or internet service provider you use, select Indonesia and click Next.

Next select the provider you use on your modem, if you use a Simpati or AS card or sim card, choose Telkomsel, as well as the others and click Next

After that you will be asked to set the APN settings for your sim card, just choose the default APN, if you use Telkomsel then the default APN is Internet, then click Next.

You will be asked to confirm the settings you made, click Finish to confirm it.

Then a menu will appear to manage the connection you made, you will be asked to give a name to the connection you made earlier, give it a name as you like.
You can also reset the APN that you have selected, and provide a user and password in the APN settings. If you don’t want to set it or leave it default, just click OK.

Before starting the connection, first unplug your modem device and plug it back in. Select the modem connection that you created earlier and click Connect to start connecting the modem and connect to the internet. Safe!!
