How to Hide Navigation Bar on Android Without Root
1. Hiding Navigation Bar With Apps
You can use the Power Toggles app to activate immersive mode on your phone. This immersive mode is basically to hide the status bar and navigation bar.
- Please download via the link (here) This app does not require root access.
- Then, press and hold on the home screen and then select on the “Widgets“, and select “Power Toggles“, and drag “4×1 Widget Panel” to the front screen.
- Now, you need to customize the widget. Press the button “Add Toggle“, and scroll down to the “Display“. Inside, there are several menu lists. Select “Immersive Mode”. Just press it to add it to the widget.
- Press Done”Done” to leave the widget editing menu. Now, on the homescreen, simply tap the Immersive Mode Icon to hide the navigation bar as well as the status bar.

2. Hiding Navigation Bar With Build.Prop (Root)
The second way is to use build.prop. If previously you only removed the nav bar temporarily, then this way you can permanently remove it. You need to know that the phone must be rooted and you must also have installed navigation control applications such as assistive touch (here) or control pie (here)
- Go to the Play Store and download the free BuildProp Editor app (here)
- After that, please run the application, press the Edit icon in the upper right corner to open the editor.
- Scroll to the bottom and add the following line “qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1” then press Save (Save) in the upper right corner.
- When pressing Save or Save, several options will appear. Please select “(Save and Exit) or Save and Exit”. Then a warning will appear root access please allow it. When finished, please reboot or restart the device.
Now you can permanently remove the navigation bar on Android. So to restore it, please delete it qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1 or change to qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0.
