How to Create a Poll in Microsoft Outlook » KepoWin

How to Create a Poll in Microsoft Outlook – Need to get feedback or answers to questions quickly? Microsoft has added a quick poll feature, powered by Microsoft Forms, for Outlook and Outlook Online clients. Here’s how it works.

Built-in polling features, such as the Quick Poll add-in, are only available for Office 365 and Microsoft 365. If you’re using a standalone version of Outlook such as Outlook 2022 or 2022, polling options will not be available to you.

The poll can be answered by anyone, no matter who provided the email. They don’t need a Microsoft, Office 365, or Microsoft 365 account, just a web browser and an internet connection.

As such, it is a much more complete solution than the old voting options.

The subject line of the email will change, and a link to the poll will be included in the body of the email.

When you send an email to your recipients, they can click the link and answer the poll question. The email is also automatically sent to Cc, so you remember to vote.

What Are Polls Like?

When people click the link you submitted, they’ll see a Microsoft Forms response page with your question.

If you send a poll to people within your organization, Forms will try to fill in their email address automatically. Otherwise, they will have to fill in the email address themselves.

At the bottom of the poll is the “View Results” option.

Any recipient can click this button to view the poll results.

However, they cannot see who voted for what, only the person who submitted the poll can do so.

How to View Full Voting Results

When you add a poll to an email, Microsoft creates a read-only Microsoft Forms report in your Office 365 or Microsoft 365 account for you. To see the results, including who voted for what, open Microsoft Forms and find the poll you created.

Click on a poll to open it and then select the “Responses” tab.

This will show you the details of the results. Click “View Results” to see how everyone voted, or select “Open in Excel” to export the results to a spreadsheet.

Unlike forms that you create yourself, you cannot grant collaboration rights to others. So only you can see the full details of the sound (unless you export it to a spreadsheet and share it with others).
