How to Calculate the Area of Many Fields at Once with Autocad. If talking about Autocad there really is no end. A huge amount tools that I still don’t know that’s in Autocad Map 3D. But what I already know I will share entirely with loyal readers of your Search Blog. In the article, it is quite simple to calculate the land area, just type and click. But yes it is only effective for 1 parcel only. The application that we will use in practice in this article is only Autocad Map 3D. Here the Student Blog admin uses Autocad Map 3D 2010. How to Calculate Multiple Fields at Once with Autocad
Open the image that you want to know the area of the land area. How to click menu File > Open select and find the .dwg file that you want to know the land area of. Once open, we will go to the next stage.
Drawaing Stage Celan Up
- Open menu Maps > Tools > Drawing Cleanup, a dialog box will appear “Drawing Celanup”
- A dialog box will appear as below.
On “Select Objects” select the part indicated by number 2, a dialog box will appear “Select Drawing”, then select the designated number 3, then select “Select” and “next”.
- In section “Cleanup Action” select “Break Crossing Objects” select “add”, then continue by selecting “Delete Duplicates” and click “add” again. Make sure on the “Delete Duplicates” tolerance is 0.0000, and also make sure there is a check mark on “Linear Objects” and “Points” exactly like the picture below.
The rest just leave the default. Click “Finish” if the command prompt appears as below, it means that at this stage: “Drawing Cleanup” finished and we will go to the next tap

Topology Stage
- Open from menu Map > Topology > Create… a dialog box will appear with the name “Create Polygon Topology”.
- In section “Topology Type” check mark “Polygons” and on topology name” fill it with a name that’s up to you, here I will fill it with the name “broad”. then select “Next”.
- See the image below, in the section “Select Links” then click the sign designated number 2, then click again the part designated number 3, and proceed by selecting the button “Select”, directly click “Finish”.
- Look at the middle of the field below, if the steps above have been carried out correctly and correctly, there should be points right in the middle of the entire plot of land that we want to know the area of the plot of land. Writing topology information to the drawing…
Topology was successfully created with 71 polygons, 192 links, and 128 nodes.And if there is an error in the topology process, Autocad will tell what is wrong with the drawing and recheck the drawing. After checking the image and correcting the error, do the steps again “Drawing Clean Up” until no errors are found at all and the dots in the center of the field have appeared.
- Actually, after completing the steps above, we can immediately see how wide the field is by clicking on the points in the middle of the field. but that can be displayed only the area of one field only. This method is somewhat different from the one that the student blog posted earlier in the article How to Calculate Land Area with Autocad, in the article how to display the area by typing “a A” or “Arena” in the command port and clicking on each end of the plot of land. The way to display the area of one plot of land in this way is as follows.
- Select menu Map > Data Objects > Edit Data Objects, then click right on the points of the field in the middle of the field. then it will appear as below.
Click the area as shown by the arrow above, it will show how much land area. but here what we will discuss is to display the area of the entire plot of land and the writing area is right in the middle of the plot of land, please continue the steps below.

Define Query Stage
- On “Task Panes” open tab “Map Explorer” click the + sign on “Topologies”, then right click on the file name that we created earlier and select Analysis > Topology Query” a dialog box will appear with the name“Topology Queries” and continue selecting “Define Queries” exactly like the picture below
- Next, a dialog box will appear again with the name “Definite Query of Broad Topology” see picture below.
- Click on the location as indicated by arrow number 1 and select “All”.
- In section “Query Mode” select “draw” as indicated in number 2.
- Then continue by selecting “After Properties” which points to number 3 and a dialog box will appear with the name “Definite Text.
- Then select “Expansion” which points to number five, and a new dialog box will appear again with the name “Expansion”.
- Open click + on “Pulygon : Area > Polygon Centroid” and select “Area” exactly as indicated by number 5 and choose “OK”.
- Take a look at the dialogue city “Deffnia Text” in section “Text Values” will appear like this ( :AREA@TPMCNTR_wide ” ). If this article is not changed, the area that will appear is very much behind the comma, so we will make a few changes to the text, At the end of the article AREA@TPMCNTR there is extensive writing, this is obtained from making names “Topological Name” .
- To remove the broad text behind the comma, we have to slightly change the writing to something like this (Strcat “Area = “(fix :AREA@TPMCNTR_area) “M2”) please pay attention to how it is written, if it is wrong in writing it will certainly not work.
- In the dialog box select “Deffnia Text”, on “TextHeight” fill in the number 1 (for the text heigt adjusted to the size of the land, if the residential land the text heigt is changed to 1, if the farm is 1 ha and above, the text heigt is changed to 4 or 5)
- Still in the dialog city dialog box “Deffnia Text”, in section “Layer” click button “Layer” then “OK”.
- In section “Set Property Alterations”, choose “OK” again
- and on “Define Query of Topology broadly” click button “Execute Query” and if successful it will appear as shown below.
That’s how to calculate land area in bulk, this method is usually done for lots of land with a very large number. It’s not good, bro, to calculate the area one by one. If there is a picture of 300 parcels that will be counted, it can be quite different, bro. It’s possible to calculate the area for 2 days and 2 nights, bro.
