Have you ever had problems installing Windows 10? Where the words appear interpreted in Indonesian like this “Windows cannot be installed to disk. The selected disk has a partition table that is MBR. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed on GPT disks“You can solve this problem with Converting GPT to MBR on windows 10.
Many also don’t understand how to change GPT to MBR, therefore clicking on the article is the right choice.
Where this time we will provide tips and tutorials on how to convert gpt into mbr form using cmd without any data being lost.
Curious about the tutorial? Then you must scroll through this article to the end so that you can immediately understand, without further ado check this out.
Difference Between GPT and MBR
But before going to the tutorial, it’s a good idea for you to know the difference in advance so that you can add to our insight in the future.
For the most significant difference, where the GPT was created to replace the MBR because the GPT is more updated and more adapted. To make it clearer, see the following table.
| MBR partition | GPT partition |
|---|---|
| In MBR this is usually much more used for processing installation Old version of Windows. | disc the GPT type must be used when installing Windows 10. But the motherboard must support UEFI. |
| For the MBR this one feature is not yet available. | File system in disc type of GPT stored automatically multiple as a backup. Useful for backupif it happens corrupt. |
| For MBR, it can only support up to 2 TB, no more. | GPT has support for storage capacities up to 9 ZB |
| MBR only supports 4 primary partition only, if you have to use more logical. | But GPT already supports creation up to 128 primary partition |
And those are some of the differences, if you already understand the difference then we will go to the tutorial or how, there are 2 want to know, let’s scroll through the article.
How to Convert GPT to MBR
There are 2 ways that can be used, you can just choose the one that is easy for you to do and practice, no need to linger, let’s go straight to the first method.
1. Using Help Software
For this first method, you must still be able to access or log in windows you or the system has not been formatted permanently.
I have also tried this method and it worked, for the method or steps as follows.
- The first step is that you must first install the software called “AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro“
- When it is installed, open the application, a display like the image below will appear.
- After that will appear the hard drive that is being used, then right click on the hard drive, then select “Convert to MBR Disk“
- After that a notification appears then click “OK” then click “apply”
- After you click “apply“Then a notification will appear again and click “procced“Then click OK.
- Then automatically the change process will run automatically
2. Using Help CMD
For the second method, which is using CMD, this method is easy and difficult to practice, and there is no need to linger, let’s see the method below.
- First you go first into the Windows installation process as usual. In the process, you click “Next“, then don’t click “Install Now” first.
- Then next you can click the “Shift + F10” button on your keyboard simultaneously, then the CMD display will appear
- After it appears you can type “diskpart“just click”enter” and it will appear as below.
- Then you type againdisk list“then click”enter“Then the capacity of the hard drive that we are using will appear.
- The next step you type back in the hard drive that will be adjusted for example “select disk 0“then press “enter“
- After adjusting, then you type “clean“then press “enter“
- When you have you can choose to convert to GPT or MBR by typing “convert GPT/MBR“then press “enter”
- Then the process is complete and you can immediately continue installing windows.
