Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson Absolute Win at UFC Vegas 17 – Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson won by unanimous points over Geoff Neal in the UFC Vegas 17 battle that took place at UFC Apex, Las Vegas, Sunday (20/12) noon WIB.
In the first round the battle went slowly, both Thompson and Neal seemed wary of attacking. The match was stopped by the referee at the end of the first round after the two fighters clashed heads.
Thompson is still in control of the 2nd round. The 37-year-old fighter’s combined footwork and punches made it difficult for Neal. The 3rd round was the same after some of Neal’s punches came in.
After the 4th round went unattractive, both Thompson and Neal tried to appear aggressive at the start of the 5th round. However, the state of the stamina of the 2 fighters who had dropped made the battle run again at a low tempo.
The blow left Thompson bleeding profusely from the right temple, the result of a head-to-head clash in the first round.
Neal’s last attempt could not make up for the utter defeat to Thompson. The judges ultimately gave Neal a 50-45, 50-45 and 50-45 lead over Neal.
In another battle, former UFC featherweight world champion Jose Aldo won by unanimous points over Marlon Vera. Aldo won 29-28, 29-28, and 29-28 over Vera.
UFC Las Vegas 17 will be the final battle of the UFC in 2022. Next, the UFC will hold the UFC Fight Night: Holloway versus Kattar battle on January 16, 2022.
