Google is back with a new project. This time online shopping platform named Shoploop featuring fashion influencers with a focus on video. The platform was developed by Google’s Area 120 experimental division.
Shoploop has a collection of influencer videos supporting products across categories such as Makeup, Skin Care, Hair and Nails. You could say Shoploop is the result of grouping influencers from specific topics to help customers make better purchasing decisions.
“A unique form of video-rich content that combines visual, sound and motion, allowing users to see how a product looks and feels in real life without having to go to a physical store“, the writing on the Shoploop page.
According to the Shoploop website, the company sources videos on its platform from influencers, publishers, brands, online boutique stores, and experts on specific topics. Creators can receive a certain amount of affiliate commission for purchases made through their videos.

As reported by TechCrunch, this is not the first time a video shopping platform has existed. Tech giants like Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, and even YouTube have similar implementations.
Currently, Shoploop does not support the ability to search for your favorite products. However, the company says it will add Search and Explore capabilities to allow users to find products by name, category and brand.
Shoploop has plans to expand into more categories such as clothing & shoes, jewelry & accessories, home & garden, arts & crafts, and electronics. The platform can also get daily interactive live streams with creators and brands for product promotion.
