Samsung unveiled some really cool tech at the ongoing CES 2022 show in Las Vegas, including the Ballie robot, Bot chef, artificial humans, completely bezel-less televisions and more. One more addition to the list is the latest external storage device – the T7 Touch Portable Solid State Drive (SSD) – which the company claims combines a sleek, compact design with fast transfer speeds based on the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard.
What makes the new device truly superior to other products on the market is the new biometric authentication system which is expected to enhance data protection with additional hardware security measures in the form of a built-in fingerprint sensor. According to the company Samsung, the T7 Touch brings the first built-in fingerprint scanner to a Samsung SSD on top of password protection and AES 256-bit hardware encryption.
Apart from the new features that make it a winner’CES 2022 Innovation Awards‘, the T7 is also said to be 94 percent faster than the previous generation drive with read speeds up to 1,050MB/s and write speeds hitting 1,000MB/s. The drive comes with a USB Type-C-to-C cable and a USB Type-C-to-A cable, and is compatible with Windows, Mac and Android operating systems. It also offers flexibility on the go, thanks to its sleek titanium casing in black and silver.
Samsung offers the T7 SSD in three different storage options, including 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. The T7 SSD will be available starting this month in more than 30 countries worldwide. The company also said that the T7 portable model is expected to launch in the second quarter of this year.
