rancakmedia.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) re-implements restrictions on community activities
(PPKM) based on levels 2, 3, and 4 in several areas of Java and Bali from August 10 to 16, 2022.
“At the direction of the president, PPKM levels 4, 3, and 2 in Java and Bali will be extended until August 16, 2022,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Monday (9/8).
Initially, the government applied PPKM Genting from July 3-20 when the increase in Covid cases began to occur. Extended with the term PPKM Level 4 on 20-25 July, 26 July-2 August, and 3-9 August.
Extend PPKM level 4. Luhut said there have been quite good results throughout the implementation of PPKM Level 2, 3, and 4 in Java and Bali since August 2-9. From the data obtained, there was a reduction in positive cases of Covid-19 by 59.6 percent.
“Regarding this decision, it will be stated in the Ministry of Home Affairs in more detail,” he said. However, as long as PPKM is based on the level applied in the last seven days, positive cases and Covid deaths have not decreased significantly.
However, the number of patients confirmed to have recovered has increased. The total additional positive cases of Covid from August 3 to 9 reached 223,940 cases. This number is down compared to the previous seven days, July 27-August 2, which reached 268,067 cases.
The number of positive COVID cases that have fallen is in the same direction as the number of PCR or antigen swab tests that have been lacking in the last six days. In addition, additional positive cases cannot be pushed up to 10 thousand every day.
Cases of death began to fall in PPKM this time. As far as August 3-9, the overall COVID-19 deaths were around 11,280. The number was down compared to the previous week, July 27-August 2, which reached 12,525 cases.
Even so, the number of COVID-19 deaths is still high because the number of cases is still increasing above 1,000 cases in the last week.
At that time, recovering cases rose as far as the last 6 days. The total number of Covid-19 patients confirmed to have recovered from August 3-9 reached 242,357. However, this number is lower than the previous 6 days, 27 July-2 August, which reached 334,444.
Extend PPKM level 4. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) highlighted the trend of increasing cases of the covid virus in several provinces outside Java and Bali. He said that the upward trend occurred during the last two weeks.
Listed, provinces outside Java and Bali played a role in 13,200 cases or 34 percent of new cases nationally on 25 July. Meanwhile, as of August 6, 2022, it rose to 21,374 cases or 54 percent of the national cases.
Jokowi said there were at least five provinces that experienced a high daily increase in Covid cases, namely East Kalimantan, North Sumatra, Papua, West Sumatra and Riau.
On the other hand, the implementation of the covid vaccination in early August 2022 or PPKM 3-8 August, has not reached the target of two million daily. Often the number of new vaccinations reaches two million. Jokowi has targeted to inject up to two million vaccines every day throughout August 2022.

Mall opening trial
In this extension, Luhut said the government would conduct a trial of gradually opening malls or shopping centers in PPKM Level 4. Of course, this trial was carried out with the implication of strict health procedures.
“Trials for opening shopping centers or malls will be carried out in the cities of Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Semarang,” he explained. Luhut explained that the malls in the four areas were opened with 25% capacity for the next week.
Only visitors who have been vaccinated can enter the mall and must use the PeduliLindungi.id program. Meanwhile, children under the age of 12 and over 70 will be prohibited from entering shopping centers or malls.
“In addition, for export-based fundamental industries, this week SOPs for health procedures will be regulated so that next week, starting August 17, 2022, cities at level 4 can apply 100 percent of staff separated by a minimum of 2 shifts,” he said.
Adjustments in places of worship
Adjustments to level 4 provisions are carried out for places of worship. According to Luhut, regencies or cities in level 4 areas in this extension can do worship with a maximum capacity of 25 percent or optimally 20 people.
In a similar opportunity, Luhut conveyed that the compliance rate using masks reached 82 percent. That number increased by 5 percent compared to the last February-March 2022.
