Iwan Bule Asks the Indonesian National Team to Stay Focused Even though the U-20 World Cup is Canceled

Iwan Bule Asks the Indonesian National Team to Stay Focused Even though the U-20 World Cup is Canceled – FIFA has confirmed that the 2022 U-20 World Cup has been postponed. In response to this, the General Chairperson of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan asked the Indonesian National Team (national team) especially the U-16s to always concentrate on preparing themselves.

Iriawan didn’t want the news that the 2022 U-20 World Cup was cancelled, which was initially thought to be in Indonesia, causing the Indonesian national team to reduce their training and reduce the concentration level of some players.

Iriawan asked all parties to remain focused, especially for some players who have the opportunity to play in the next edition of the U-20 World Cup which will be held in 2023. According to him, the target of the Indonesian national team is still the same, namely the U-20 World Cup.

The same is said because Indonesia is still believed to be the host of the junior level soccer competition. FIFA doesn’t seem to have the heart to waste the golden opportunity that Indonesia has got to host the U-20 World Cup which should be held in 2022.

FIFA has decided to abolish the U-20 World Cup competition next year because the Corona virus outbreak has not yet ended and may continue. In order to withstand an increasingly chronic condition, a suspension must be carried out.

However, FIFA promised that Indonesia would be trusted to host the event again. Due to this fact, Iriawan immediately asked some of his players not to give up easily and not to reduce training sessions.

Iriawan tries to take the positive side of the postponement of the U-20 World Cup in 2022 as more time given by FIFA to further deepen the Indonesian national team team that will compete in the 2023 edition.

Interestingly, the current U-19 Indonesian national team will not play in the 2023 U-20 World Cup. Because most of the players are more than 20 years old and cannot come back.

So, it seems PSSI will focus on improving the performance of the U-16 Indonesian national team which will automatically play in the U-19 Indonesia national team in the next 3 years. He believes that Indonesia’s chance to achieve the greatest result is still as great as it was this season.

“Following the postponement of the U-20 World Cup in 2022, the Portugal national team, which we will prepare later, can take advantage of the additional time and continue the program for the preparation of the U-20 World Cup in 2023. I hope that the preparation can be more complete, cooked, and later we will be champions,” said Iriawan.
