
The South Korean government has begun punishing 13 people accused of hacking Blizzard Entertainment’s game “Overwatch” according to a post from Blizzard Korea via Kotaku.
One of the people receiving the punishment two years probation. And another hacker was fined 10 million won, which is roughly the same as 138 Million Rupiah but maybe the punishment would be worse. The maximum penalty allowed by law is a fine 597 Million Rupiahor five years in prison They were arrested and charged after a year-long investigation that began in January 2022 by Seoul Police Department Cyber Security Department. And now eleven other cases are still under investigation.

In all games there must be such a thing as cheaters, after 2022 and 2022. Game Overwatch has many cheaters in South Korea. And in late 2022 South Korea passed a law criminalizing the creation and distribution of aimbots, wall hacks, and other software not permitted by online gaming’s terms of service.
Game developers are increasingly taking Cheat cases seriously in their games and continue to strengthen penalties for the perpetrators. In another similar case that happened recently in China, 15 PUBG cheaters were fined 70 billion Rupiah for making and selling PUBG game cheats. And another from Epic Games with its game Fortnite regarding a lawsuit against a 14 year old boy accused of using Cheats.
