Gong Oh-Kyun Resigns As Assistant Coach of the Indonesian National Team

Gong Oh-Kyun Resigns As Assistant Coach of the Indonesian National Team – PSSI technical director Indra Sjafri, confirmed that Gong Oh-kyun will no longer be part of the coaching team for the Indonesian national team. The man from South Korea decided to resign.

However, Indra, unaware of Oh-kyun’s trigger, chooses to let go of the position he was holding. In fact, he is the right-hand man of the coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong.

“Right, he-” [Gong Oh-kyun] has not trained as long as the Indonesian U-19 national team has focused on training in Jakarta,” said Indra when contacted by the mass media.

“For the facts, try asking Tae-yong’s coach. Because, we have not legally accepted the resignation of Gong Oh-kyun,” Indra added.

The former Bali United schemer confirmed that Oh-kyun did not resign because of orders from PSSI. Indra admitted that he did not recognize who was in the post left by the 46-year-old figure.

“Gong Oh-kyun is coach Shin Tae-yong’s staff. It is impossible for PSSI to stop the coaching staff. It will be the head coach who will decide. Try asking Tae-yong, who can be his substitute, “

Oh-kyun’s resignation leaves now the remaining 3 coaches from South Korea in the Indonesian national team. They are Kim Hae-woon, Lee Jae-hon, and Kim Woo-jae.

The three of them have helped focus the training (TC) of the Indonesia U-19 national team in Jakarta, since the beginning of this December. They were joined by several local confidants, namely Nova Arianto, Alex Aldha Yudi, and Sahari Gultom.

After Jakarta, the Indonesian U-19 national team will continue their TC in Spain. It is planned that Shin Tae-yong’s fleet will leave for the Matador Country, tomorrow (26/12).

Around 30 players were brought in to join TC in Spain. 27 names will leave Jakarta, while Elkan Baggot, Kelana Noah Mahesa, and Witan Sulaeman, follow suit because they are defending their respective teams abroad.

Salou, being a city in Spain, was decided to hold the TC. Later, the Indonesian U-19 national team will not only be training, but will hold several experimental matches.

However, we don’t know who the experimental enemy will be when the U-19 Indonesia national team is in Spain. PSSI is still communicating with several teams in the country.
