Finally, London 2012 Olympic Silver Winner Bonus Liquidated

Finally, London 2012 Olympic Silver Winner Bonus Liquidated – The success of lifter Citra Febrianti in winning silver at the 2012 London Olympics has earned her a bonus of IDR 400 million. Menpora Zainudin Amali gave directly.

Located at the Wisma Kemenpora, Monday (12/21/2022), the event was carried out with strict health procedures. In the presentation of the bonus, except for Citra, Deputy General Chairperson of PB PABSI Joko Pramono, Chairman of KOI Raja Sapta Oktohari, and Secretary General of Central KONI Ade Lukman.

“If it was 2012 in London, because there was a doping incident carried out by the gold and bronze medal winners, Citra, who was originally in status four, finally won silver. Therefore, the government gave awards according to the circumstances at that time,” Amali said at a press conference through the Zoom program.

According to this Golkar politician, what the government does is a form of concern for sportsmen.

“It happened 8 years ago, we are still working on it because this is our loyalty to pay attention to sportsmen. So it has to be done,” he said.

In this regard, the Minister of Youth and Sports asked what is happening in other countries to be the main lesson in sports in taking action. He suggested that it was better to give the athlete’s original greatest results than to doping for achievement.

Because, said Zainudin Amali, the doping problem is not only a loss for athletes but also for the nation’s good name. “Because of that, you at the same time make this a lesson for the coach and the league not to play with doping. So it must be prepared properly. Whatever the result, the original that needs to be shown. Do not be pushed by using doping,” he said.

The same thing was confirmed. Oktohari agreed. According to him, reshuffling this information can improve Indonesia’s achievements in the Olympics.

“There is a chance that Indonesia can get a better ranking with this verification. God willing, there will be good news again which we are pursuing, hopefully it can add to Indonesia’s achievements. We can’t show anything because we still need correct data,” said Oktohari.

It was found that Citra was one of the lifters who represented Indonesia at the 2012 Olympics in London, England. He appeared in the 53 kg class, but was only able to rank fourth.

At that time, Kazakhstan’s lifter Zulfiya Chinshanlo won the gold medal, Hsu Shu-ching from Taiwan and Christina Lovu from Moldova won the bronze medal.

Four years later, Chinshanlo and Lovu were confirmed positive for doping. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) doping commission disqualified both of them based on the qualifications issued by the international weightlifting league (IWF). The medals they achieved were also removed. At the moment Citra gets an advantage because her position rises and has the right to a silver medal.
