Electronic Arts Purchased Respawn Entertainment for More Than 6 Trillion Rupiah

Massive acquisitions happen again, now Titanfall Developer “Respawn Entertainment” is now officially owned by studio EA: Electronic Arts. Today they announced they had reached an agreement to acquire the company for $315 million (4.2 Trillion in Indonesian Rupiah), plus “additional variable cash considerations subject to certain performance milestones, relating to future developments. title, until the end of calendar 2022,” which could add up to another $140 million (1.8 Trillion in Indonesian Rupiah).

“Our long-term partnership is based on a shared desire to push boundaries and deliver amazing and innovative new experiences for players around the world,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said in a statement. “Together, we brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to achieve even more amazing things in the future.”

EA has been a great partner over the years with Titanfall and Titanfall 2, and we’re excited to be joining our forces, this is the next step for Respawn, EA, and our players,” said Respawn CEO Vince Zampella.

Vince Zampella told VentureBeat that Respawn has “worked together” [dengan EA] long ago when the studio was founded,” and talk of the acquisition has been around for a long time. “The question is, where are we in the industry, how do we take the next step in making games bigger and better,” he said. “We saw the need for more resources to make the game bigger.”

Respawn was founded in 2010 by Vince Zampella and Jason West, he is also the founder of Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward, and has released two games so far, both Titanfall. Titanfall 2 didn’t live up to expectations despite the overwhelmingly positive critical response, and there seems to be some uncertainty about the series’ future. But this latest acquisition seems to have revived spirits that had slowed down, and EA’s announcement confirms that Respawn is working on “a new title in the Titanfall universe.”
