Indonesia Exports Rice to 20 Countries

Indonesia has exported rice to 20 countries. In the midst of the joy of farmers picking big crops in several areas, the Ministry of Agriculture has released data on the existence of rice export options that are wide open for Indonesian farmers.

With a pretty good price guarantee in the international market. Kuntoro Boga Andri, Director of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Public Relations and Information Agency, explained that Indonesian rice has already gained market share in other countries.

At least since 2022, Indonesia has exported 2,100 tons to 5 target countries, namely the Netherlands, the United States, Malaysia, Belgium, and Bangladesh. “Based on the KKNI data from the Agricultural Quarantine Agency collected at our export dock, our rice needs abroad are quite high,” he said in his official broadcast, taken by www.rancakmedia.com, Sunday (28 March 2022).

In fact, in 2022 it reached a total of 1,400 tons of exports to 14 countries, including Japan, Vietnam, and China.

In addition, Kuntoro explained, the demand for premium rice or special needs is still open considering the market’s tastes. The demand for organic rice and horeka abroad for local Asian rice is quite good.

Kuntoro added, the volume of rice exports reached 230.2 tons in 2022 and 341.1 tons in 2022. “Although the volume is quite low, there are obstacles to the Covid 19 outbreak in 2022, especially, the number of countries that export to has increased to 20 countries in the world. This is an opportunity that needs to be used,” said Kuntoro.

Indonesia has exported rice to 20 countries. If this opportunity can be used and some countries of the world start, then they can open access to the dock. Kuntoro believes his options will be wide open.

In terms of the strength of the farm and production capacity, this is not a problem because Indonesia still has sufficient space and needs to be regulated to meet the needs of certain seeds and their care.

“We believe that rice export opportunities to international markets will continue to open and we will be able to meet the needs of local and international markets.

Minister of Agriculture Syahrul has special guidelines on how to increase surplus value and remember the export of our agricultural products. We just need to optimize its strength,” said Kuntoro.
