www.rancakmedia.com – Google Maps restarts compass function for Android users. This feature was first removed in 2022 due to reliability issues, but is now back due to persistent user feedback.
However, Google Maps for iOS has not lost its compass functionality and will continue to be available in the future. The compass can be used in two formats – as a regular compass, or it can always point north. At the same time, Google recently announced a number of new features for Maps.
Announced via a post on the Google Maps help forum, the search giant announced that its maps will be getting the compass back as a widget in the app. A compass is displayed on the right side of the screen when the user navigates to a destination.
When the phone is rotated in any direction, the red arrow always points north. The post also states that users who want to experience Kompas will need Google Maps version 10.62 or higher. The feature was never removed for iOS users, but was removed from Android in 2022.
Google also announced in a blog post that they are introducing several new features for Maps. This includes indoor AR navigation: it allows users to use Maps Live View indoors in locations such as airports, shopping malls, and transit stations.
Weather and Air Quality Information: It allows users to quickly view current weather and air conditions and forecasts in an area. Grocery Collection Integration: User can view online grocery store. They can also order in person and plan delivery/pick up. Its functionality is integrated via Google search.
More EV Compatible Navigation Routes: Google is trying to curb climate change and is now offering more eco-friendly routes with more EV charging points. It also looks for routes that are optimized for lower fuel consumption.
