Export of 14 agricultural source products. Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) agreed to export 14 agricultural raw materials from West Sumatra on Friday (4 September 2022) at Balitbu Solok. The total value of the 14 items is Rp. 298.67 billion.

“West Sumatra’s favorite export products are really diverse, starting from petai, jengkol, mangosteen, coconut-derived products and so on. There are also 11 countries from various continents, such as the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Hong Kong, China, Japan, India. Bangladesh and several countries in Southeast Asia,” said SYL in the schedule regarding exposure to tropical fruit development.

SYL added, as instructed by President Joko, exports must be prolonged. This shows that Indonesian agriculture is still needed by other countries. Agriculture must be maintained in order to keep producing. The role of all actors in agriculture is important. This is inseparable from the role and hard work of several Indonesian farmers.

Deputy Governor of West Sumatra, Audy Joinaldy, explained that the agricultural sector is the backbone of West Sumatra.

“About 27% of our GRDP comes from agriculture. And more than 50% of the workforce is placed in agriculture. It means, agriculture is our backbone,” said the Deputy Governor.

Head of the Agricultural Quarantine Agency (Barantan) Ali Jamil explained that efforts to increase exports include export values, new exporters, and new countries. Of the 11 exporters, there are new exporters.

“Alhamdulillah, there is a new exporter in West Sumatra, namely CV. Murasaki’s trust. Exporters from Petai and Jengkol to Japan,” he said.

Jamil explained as a quarantine body through quarantine treatment to ensure that all agricultural products that will be exported meet international sanitation and phytosanitary requirements so that they can compete in the world market. “Agricultural exports can be evidence if the collaboration of agricultural development actors in West Sumatra is well tied,” added Jamil.

Head of Padang Agricultural Quarantine Iswan Haryanto, who accompanied him, explained that as a coordinator of efforts to increase exports in his work area, except for service acceleration.

His faction provides technical accompaniment so that economic actors can increase. their export performance. “Agricultural Quarantine Export Clinic services are ready to serve not only regular exporters but also novice exporters,” said Iswan.

The event which was held as part of the open Balitbu (Fruit Crop Research Institute) was attended by the Agricultural Research and Development Agency as part of the Communication Community for West Sumatra Regional Leaders and other related institutions.
