Hyundai Electric Car IDR 21 Trillion

Hyundai electric car of Rp 21 trillion, starting production at the end of 2022. The electric car factory project built by a South Korean company, Hyundai Group in Kota Deltamas, Central Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java.

It should be a concern if South Korea prioritizes West Java as the highest investment position. Up to 40% of South Korean investment will be implemented in the Ridwan Kamil area in the near future. One of the investments made is the ongoing construction of the Hyundai factory in Cikarang.

The target is that the work on this factory project will be processed by July 2022 and can start production by the end of this year. Hyundai Mobil Indonesia Erwin Djajadiputra at the 2022 PLN ICE event, Monday (12/4/2022).

To note, the Hyundai Group has invested in Indonesia to build the electric car factory of up to US$ 1.5 billion or equivalent to Rp 21.8 trillion.

The plan is that at the factory later, Hyundai will produce electric vehicles (EVs), and other types of compact SUVs, compact MPVs, and sedan models.

The factory capacity is projected to reach 150,000 vehicles per year and is expected to increase to 250,000 vehicles annually.

The target is that in addition to supplying the local Indonesian market, the factory’s production will also be aimed at new markets in the ASEAN region, such as Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.

While waiting for the car factory to be finished, this car itself has already marketed several electric cars such as the Ioniq and Kona Electric electric cars.

The US$1.55 billion investment deal will cover operational costs and product development. Completely or completely built up (CBU) models marketed in Indonesia, including the Hyundai Kona and Ioniq electric cars.

According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), Hyundai has imported 612 units of cars from January to February 2022.

Gaikindo noted that of this total, the company sent 323 units of Kona EV and Ioniq EV by CBU from South Korea. This means that the two electric cars accounted for 52.7 percent of the company’s total imports.
