www.rancakmedia.com – Apple has released updates for iOS 14.4.2, iPad 14.4.2, and watchOS 7.3.3 to address crashes in its newest devices. The update fixes a security crash in WebKit, the browser engine developed by Apple and used in the Safari web browser, which is also required for use in all third-party browsers on iOS.
Apple says the WebKit bug may have been exploited. The Cupertino-based company has also released iOS 12.5.2 and iPadOS 12.5.2 to address WebKit security issues on older iPhone and iPad models running iOS 12. Apple released updates for iOS 14.4, iPad 14.4 and watchOS 7.3 in January. A new major update for the latest iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch models is planned for later this year.
Apple has stated that they have discovered a bug in WebKit that could allow malicious websites to randomly activate cross-site scripts. The tech giant said it was “aware of reports exploiting this flaw”. The current update is only a security update and does not contain any new functionality.
The iOS 14.4.2 update applies to iPhone 6s and up. iPadOS 14.2.2 is intended for iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and up, iPad 5th generation and up, iPad mini 4 and up, and iPod touch (7th generation). Patch for iOS and iPadOS 12.5.2 applies to iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3 and iPod touch (6th generation). WatchOS 7.3.3 fixes security issues for Apple Watch Series 3 and up. If you haven’t received the notification on your compatible Apple device, you can tap Install Now under Settings > Software Update.
Apple is currently in the process of testing iOS and iPadOS 14.5, which is expected to reach users in April. iOS 14.5 will hit the market with feature enhancements, including the ability to use Apple Watch to unlock iPhone while wearing a face mask. It also introduces the controversial App Tracking Transparency feature, a new dialog box with permissions that apps must display before sharing user information with anyone.
The last major update from Apple for iPhone and iPad models was iOS 14.4, which was released in January this year. It has a list of new features and improvements, including a feature that will notify users of the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max when their camera cannot be verified as an actual Apple camera. The update also fixes an issue with the standard keyboard causing delays in entering and displaying suggested words on some devices.
The WatchOS 7.3 update for Apple Watch includes the Unity watch face, which is inspired by the colors of the Pan-African flag. This update also gives Apple Fitness+ customers time to run and expand the ECG app for Apple Watch Series 4 and later to Japan, Mayotte, Philippines, and Thailand.
