To prevent content from being deleted by other parties, Instagram releases the latest features – Have you ever heard a friend complain that their Instagram account was hacked and their posts deleted? The good news about this, Instagram brings a new feature to protect user uploaded content. Instagram introduced a feature that can protect users from account takeovers and hackers.

This feature allows users to restore photos, videos, reels, IGTV videos, and Stories that were deleted accidentally or without the user’s knowledge.

The feature is present in the form of “recently deleted” alias just deleted.

So, how can this feature protect users? Apparently this feature only works when users have managed to get back their Instagram accounts that were previously accessed by other parties.

When you get your account back, the user can recover things that were deleted, assuming the content was deleted in less than 30 days.

  • Request Confirmation from Account Owner

The reason is, when users want to permanently delete content, Instagram will now ask users to confirm that they are the rightful account owners either via email or SMS.

That way, once hackers have guessed someone’s Instagram username and password, they won’t be able to permanently delete that user’s content.

Of course, assuming the user’s smartphone or email remains in the hands of the owner.

  • Instagram Fraud Cases Rise

Previously reported, in the UK, the rate of fraud on Instagram has increased by more than 50 percent since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Based on Ubergizmo’s report, Monday (1/2/2022), this figure is based on findings from Action Fraud, the UK police’s national reporting center for fraud and cybercrime.

One of the worst stories of fraud was experienced by a man who lost £17,000 or equivalent to Rp. 326.8 million.

Reported by the BBC, the man named Jonathan Reuben (24) was the victim of a fraud under the guise of a fraudulent investment from someone he followed on Instagram.

Reuben said he was convinced to sign up for an investment program after following someone’s account on Instagram. The person claimed to be successful after joining a similar investment program offered to Reuben.

Even on his Instagram account, the person continues to upload photos of a rose gold Maserati car.

Reuben initially benefited from the investment. This then prompted him to invest even more. Instead of profit, Reuben actually lost a lot of money because of this fraudulent investment.
