How to keep your Chromebook from constantly connecting to Google Chrome

How to keep your Chromebook from constantly connecting to Google Chrome – Many Chromebook users just want to use their device to browse sites and really have no interest in storing files on Google Drive.

They prefer to store locally or on an external hard drive that can be connected to a device using a USB port. The facts vary, ranging from insufficient internet access to concerns about the security of the data contained in Google Drive.

But, as is well known, Google makes the device to be constantly connected to Google Drive. Of course, it makes some users feel uncomfortable.

In other words, Google is forcing Chromebook users to use the cloud computing-based storage service.

Releasing Chrome Unboxed on Tuesday (5/1/2022), there are steps that can be taken for Chromebook users to avoid using Google Drive or maybe not constantly connecting with Google Drive.

If you visit the Settings program by tapping the ‘Everything button’ and typing in ‘Settings’ (or perhaps by clicking on the time clock on the bottom right of the monitor and clicking the gear icon), you can access all of your Chromebook’s personalization options.

Think of this as your ‘control center’. Since it was made by Google, You should be sure if they put a big search bar at the top, so go ahead and write ‘Drive’. You will soon see a list of options appear (or just hit enter to send your browsing wishes). One of them is the option to ‘Unbind Google Drive account’.

If you don’t already have the blur browsing feature in the Setup program as seen above, simply navigate using the left sidebar to:

Advanced > File > Unbinding Google Drive account

Once you’re there, simply click the switch until it turns right or ‘on’ and turns blue. When you open the ‘Files’ program on your Chromebook, you’ll find that your Google Drive storage is completely gone!

Don’t worry, you’re not deleting any files, you’re just making them inaccessible via the Files program. You can still access it via Drive on the site at any time. If you decide you want to reactivate it again in the future, just click the back button again inactive (gray) in Settings and your files will appear again.

If you want to save something on your Chromebook’s internal storage, you can save to the Files program under Downloads, or you can right-click under ‘My files’ and select ‘New folder’ from the contextual menu to create your own file hierarchy.
