You basically lose some of your PC experience, especially jarring ones while watching videos, playing games, or listening to music. So, what’s the answer? Several things can be checked, from muted audio to faulty speakers.
You may even have a connected headset that you forgot. If a simple reboot doesn’t fix the problem, here are some possible problems, and fixes for each.
Have You Mute (Mute) Audio?
One of the easiest ways to end up without audio in Windows is to accidentally mute the sound. It can even happen by lowering the system volume too much. To unmute your audio, start by playing an audio or video file.
This will help you see audio working again. Next, identify the mute button on your keyboard, and tap it. On multimedia-style keyboards, this is usually at the top, next to other playback controls.
Check Speaker Jack
Whether you use wired headphones or a set of speakers with your PC, they will connect to your laptop with a traditional 3.5mm jack. It must be plugged into the audio out jack. Inserting the correct jack into the correct port is critical to getting sound out of your laptop.
On older systems, the microphone port can be found next to the speaker or headphone jack. As such, it’s worth taking the time to make sure your speakers don’t act like giant microphones.
With a desktop PC with a sound card that is not integrated into the motherboard, you should also check that the device is properly installed. This means opening the case and identifying the sound card, which is in one of the PCI or PCI-e slots.
If the card is properly attached to the motherboard, and the power LED appears when the PC is turned on, everything should be fine. However, if you have used the front audio jack on your PC case, check if it is attached internally to the sound card.

Confirm HDMI Audio is Selected
Some HD displays do not support audio over an HDMI cable, even if they do. As such, there may be a scenario where you are using an HDMI display that does not play audio. The solution is to run the audio cable from the PC to the display, making sure the audio jack is connected to the audio port on the display.
Do this by going to Settings (Windows key + I) > Ease of access > Audio > Change other sound settings and selecting the Playback tab. If an HDMI audio device is connected to your PC, then you will see a Digital Output Device (HDMI) option. The audio should now play to your HDMI TV.
Check Your Windows Audio Device Driver
Did all the checks on your hardware and cables, and still no sound from your laptop speakers? Then it’s time to look at software solutions. The solution here is to update the drivers or revert to the previous settings.
Access your hardware via Device Manager. Find this by right-clicking Start and selecting Device Manager. Expand Sound, video, and game controllers and identify your audio device. This is usually Intel(R)Display Audio unless you have dedicated audio hardware. Right-click the device and select Update driver. Drivers to be installed. The same fix can be applied to the USB driver if you are using a USB headset or USB sound card.

How to Overcome Dead Laptop Speakers

Muted speaker
One more trivial problem that can cause laptop speakers to turn off is the speaker icon being muted or disabled accidentally. Usually by default the speaker will be set to on, but sometimes when using it there is a click error so that the speaker mutes or turns off accidentally.
