The first step
- First, first check the version of Windows 10 that you are using. How to open Run command (Windows + R).
- Type winver, then press enter or click OK.
- View your version of Microsoft Windows. Example here my Windows version is version 20H2.



Second step
- Now that you know which version of Windows you are using, it is time to download the Windows update patch.
- Visit catalog.update.microsoft.com
- In the search field, type your Windows version. Then, click Search.
- A list of Windows update patches will appear complete with the update type, version, and date.



- Select the patch update that you want to download, usually I choose the one that says cumulative (which is a combination of all updates). To sort from most recent, click Last updated.
- Click the download button on the right.
- Then a new tab will appear like this.



- Click the link that appears to download.



- If you’re using Chrome, sometimes there’s a problem where the download just won’t start even if it’s clicked. The solution is to right-click on the link > open link new tab.



- These patch files usually have an .MSU extension.
- If the download is complete, you can open it immediately. Then the installation process will start running, let it finish.
- Restart your computer to apply the update results.
If you want to install the downloaded patch on another computer or laptop. Just move the patch file to the flash drive and copy it to the PC you want.
