Epic Announces 2022 Fortnite World Cup with $100 Million Prize Money

Epic Games has finally announced further details on their planned E-Sports tournament with the largest total prize pool to date for a Fortnite game, revealed this morning during the Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am tournament that took place in Los Angeles during E3 2022. Prize pool for the Fortnite World Cup tournament 2022 will be worth USD 100 Million or 1.4 Trillion Rupiah, wow.

Last month Epic said it would use the prize pool to invest in eSports by helping sponsor tournaments throughout the 2022-19 season. And all of the approximately 125 Million Fortnite players can enter the 2022 Fortnite World Cup. “Anyone can participate, anyone can win”, promises Epic. These events will include online tournaments, community-run competitions, and official competition events.

Later the prize money will be divided in various events at all levels of competition. The Fortnite World Cup will focus on solos and duos only, but the Fortnite blog post also says “but there will be plenty of opportunities for squads in competition.”

All players of any level can take part in this event but you also need to have good standing, Epic is also careful noting that no space in this event is being sold to third parties or established esports franchises, in hopes of giving every player a fair chance.

And Epic Games promises to provide more information about the Rules, the Player Code of Conduct, specifics on accepted platforms and the Fall 2022 schedule.

Fortnite World Cup qualifiers kicked off in Fall 2022, and culminated in the first Fortnite World Cup in late 2022. Whether you’re in competition or watching at home, we want it to be fun for everyone.

How about the specifications? $100,000,000 will be divided among many events at different levels of competition around the world. Playing the Fortnite World Cup will focus on Solos and Duos, but there will be plenty of opportunity for squads in the competition as well.

This is for you, the players. Qualification for the Fortnite World Cup will be based on merit. Epic will not sell teams or franchises, and will not allow third-party leagues to do so either.
