Easy Ways to Backup and Restore Game Origin

Origin is a well-known digital game distribution platform and is a strong competitor to Steam, but the games on Origin are only games produced by EA. Such as Apex Legends, FIFA, Battlefield, The Sims, Need for Speed, Star Wars, Titanfall and many more.

Unfortunately, the EA Origin client has very few features when compared to Steam, Uplay, GOG and other clients. If on Steam, their backup and restore method makes it very easy, or Uplay and GOG just move the game folder and then move it to restore. Origin does not provide Backup and Restore options on the client side.

How to Backup Game Origin Files

Copy the Games folder from the Origin Games folder to your desired save location or another different, the default folder for Origin Games is C:Program Files (x86)Origin Games. For example, below is the RabbidsCoding game folder, right click and Copy

If the default installed game folder is still in C:Program Files (x86)Origin Games. After Copy or Cut the name of the game folder, you immediately move it to another folder.

For example, create a Backup folder on Disk D or an external hard drive.

Knowing the Location of the Installed Game

If it’s not in the default folder like the photo above, how to find out where the game is installed can be found in the following way:

Open Origin Client, Go to Application Settings > Installs and Saves then look at the location on the ‘Game library Location’ tab

How to Restore Game Origin Files

1. Re-download the game that you want to restore on the Origin Client, and remember the location of the game directory folder that you just downloaded and installed.
2. Wait about 0.1% or 1% download then click Pause Download.
3. Close Origin Client
4. Then go to the game directory folder that you are downloading on the Origin Client earlier.
5. Delete the game folder or overwrite it with the game folder that was backed up earlier and make sure it has the same folder name.

• Reopen Origin Client, then click Resume Download.
• Wait for the file verification process to complete and then 100% immediately then you can play.

If it’s still downloading, let it be at least there are only a few updates whose file size is smaller than we download the game in full.

You can save the backup results if you need a restore at any time, just use the backup results earlier. Admin recommends not taking too long, a maximum of once every 4 months for 1 backup so you don’t get left behind in game updates.
