
Bungie is a well-known video game development company that has released video games such as Destiny 2 and Halo. Now, it has officially formed a partnership with an online game company from China, NetEase. It was reported that if NetEase made an investment of USD 100 Million or more than 1.3 Trillion Rupiah and succeeded in acquiring a minority stake in Bungie, they planned to use the money to create new games by self-publishing new titles.
“A big part of our focus is on self-publishing in the future,” said Bungie CEO Pete Parsons to the Wall Street Journal.
“We will decide the business model and how the world we create enters the market.”
Parsons also told GamesIndustry.biz that the partnership with NetEase will not affect its relationship with Destiny 2 publisher Activision any decision to bring Destiny to China is still Activision’s.

“If you’re a Destiny player, this news won’t affect the hobbies you know about,” Bungie said on his website. “Destiny is an experience that will grow for years to come. We will continue to work with our partners at Activision to grow this global community and turn new players from around the world into Guardians. Our commitment to that world has not diminished because of this announcement. We have exciting plans for the future of the Destiny franchise, and you’ll learn more about the next steps we’ll be taking together in the weeks to come.
