Install Cool Retro Term, Terminal With Vintage Monitor Display

Cool-retro-term is a Terminal emulator lightweight free created by a developer from Italy, whose name is Filippo Scognamiglio.

Cool-retro-term is very light. Apart from being light, what makes Cool-retro-term very interesting is that it looks very unique, like an old television or monitor with a convex screen.

Cool-retro-term has various templates which is already available when installing it, so users just choose the template they want to use or they like, some of the templates that can be used are Amber, Green, Scanlines, Pixelated, Apple, Vintage, IBM Dos, IBM 3287, Transparent Green and others.

Cool-retro-term also allows users to customize the Cool-retro-term terminal, such as changing brightness, contrast, changing text type, font size, color, animation, effects on the terminal, and others. Users are free to change the appearance according to taste.

Install Cool Retro Term on Linux Mint, Ubuntu and Derivatives

To install Cool Retro Term on Ubuntu, and its derivatives such as Linux Mint and others. Open Terminal by pressing combination CTRL+ALT+T on the keyboard, or via the application menu.

Then type the following command to add the PPA repository and install Cool Retro Term :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/apps
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cool-retro-term

Wait for the installation process to complete. After success, open Cool Retro Term via the application menu, Dash or also via Terminal by typing:

cool-retro-term

Preview, Change the Look Cool Retro Term

After the application is successfully opened, you can replace the Cool Retro Term look with the one you like.

To change it, select menu Profiles on menu bar application, then a menu will appear dropdown which displays the available display templates, select the template you want to use.
