Creating a Bootable Flashdisk in Linux Mint
Having previously posted a tutorial on how to make a bootable Linux flash drive on Windows and make it bootable on Linux with the Suse Studio ImageWriter application. This time I will give a tutorial on how to make a bootable flash drive for the Linux Mint distro, the distro that has the most HPD in the world according to distrowatch.
Linux Mint has an application that is installed by default to support creating bootable Flashdisks, namely USB Image Writer. So you don’t need to download and install it first, just open the application and immediately make it bootable. USB Image Writer is an easy to use and powerful bootable Flashdisk creation tool. Let’s get started
Tools and materials
1. The iso file that you will make bootable for installation
2. Flashdisk, whose size is larger than the size of the iso that you will make bootable
Steps to Make a Bootable Flashdisk in Linux Mint
Click the start menu, then select accessories and scroll to the bottom to find USB Image Writers and open it by double-clicking on the application.

Then USB Image Writer will open. Select the Write Image menu as shown in the image to add the “.iso” file

Browse to the location of the “.iso” file that you will make bootable, select it and then click Open.

Click the To menu next to it to select the Flashdisk you will use. Or you can leave it if the Flashdisk has been selected automatically and correctly.

If you have added files and choose the Flashdisk that is used. Select Write to start the bootable creation process.
Then a pop-up will appear warning that the bootable creation process will eliminate all files on the Flashdisk and ask you to enter the existing Root password.
Enter your Root password and click Authenticate. Wait until the process is complete.
