Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh all Muslim friends. Saying God willing is a saying that has become a habit among Muslims but we know that the sentence Insha Allah is not an ordinary sentence. This utterance is the commandment of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala in the Qur’an.
Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam was once asked by An-Nadhar bin Al-Haris and Uqbah bin Ani Mu’ith as messengers of the Quraysh infidels. The question asked by these two people is How is the story of Ashabul Kahf? What is the story of Zulkarnain? and What is meant by spirit.
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam said to the two people “tomorrow I will tell and I will answer”. However, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam forgot to say the word God willing, as a result, the revelation that came every time he faced a problem was interrupted for 15 days.
While the Quraysh every day always collect promises to the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam and say “what’s the story?” while the Messenger of Allah could only answer maybe tomorrow and so on until the 15th day, when the Prophet sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam was very sad, finally Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala did send down a revelation that answered the questions from the Quraysh, but Allah also gave a warning to the Messenger of Allah .
God said
“… don’t you ever say Verily I will do this tomorrow, except by saying Insha Allah”
(Surat al-Kahf: 23-24)
A sentence that we often take for granted and we misinterpret, but the most honorable person by his side whose sins have been forgiven both past and future are also reprimanded by Allah for forgetting to say the word God willing.
Humans only plan and try, Allah determines the outcome. Humans are too weak to say the word Definitely because God as the owner of life can have other plans. But we need to pay attention, don’t say God willing if we don’t intend to fulfill a promise because unknowingly we have involved God in our lies.
