Buterin’s donation was donated to the India Covid Relief Fund, founded by Sandeep Nailwal, fellow crypto entrepreneur and co-founder of scaling platform Ethereum Polygon, as India battles the deadly Covid-19 spike.

Nailwal promised SHIB investors that “we will not do anything to harm any community [e] especially the retail community involved with $SHIB.”
Forbes reports that Buterin has also donated millions of dollars in ether to the non-profit charity GiveWell appraiser, as well as a foundation working to extend human life and an organization developing secure AI technologies.
Buterin, 27, became the world’s youngest crypto billionaire last week after the price of ether soared to $3,500 and his estimated 333,500 ether valued at more than $1.1 billion.
According to CNN, ether — which Buterin launched in 2022 — and bitcoin account for nearly two-thirds of the $2.3 trillion global crypto market.
