It is very common for Windows 10 users to face the consequences of corrupt system files. There are several reasons for these system files to get corrupted, and most of the time, it’s nearly impossible to repair the corrupted files manually.
If Windows is experiencing blue screens or other crashes, apps fail, or some Windows features aren’t working properly, there are a few things that might help. And in this article, I will discuss some of these ways to fix corrupt system files in Windows 10.
How to Fix Corrupt File System on Windows 10
The System File Checker (SFC) tool present in Windows will scan your Windows system files for corruption or other changes. If a file has been modified, it will automatically replace that file with the correct version. If the SFC command doesn’t work, you can also try the DISM (Deployment Image Service and Management) command on Windows 10 or Windows 8 to fix corrupt system files in Windows 10.
1. Fix With DISM Perintah Command
DISM (Deployment Image Service and Management) is a tool that can repair corrupted system files fairly quickly. You can use this tool via command prompt by following the given steps:
a) First, run Command Prompt as an administrator by searching for it in the Start Menu with the keyword “cmd” or “command prompt“.
b) Type the command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press ENTER.

PS: If it shows an error, then make sure you launch the command prompt as administrator. And if you are still unable to execute the command, then check if you have copied it properly.
c) Now, you have to wait for the repair process to reach 100%. It may take 10-15 minutes to complete.
Most likely, your problem will be resolved when you restart your PC after running the DISM command. However, if the problem is still there, proceed to the next step.
2. Fix With SFC Command
SFC (System File Checker) is also a Windows tool that scans your PC for corrupted files and fixes it by itself. You can access this tool by following these steps:
PS: In Windows 10, you have to run the DISM tool before jumping into the SFC tool.
a) To use the SFC tool, launch a command prompt on your PC as Administrator.
b) Now, type the command: sfc /scannow in the CMD window and press ENTER.

The system scan will now begin, and should take a few minutes to complete. When the scan is complete, you will get one of the following messages:
1. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
This message means the SFC tool did not find any corrupted files on your system. So, your Windows 10 OS is in great shape.
2. Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
If this is the message that pops up in front of you, then you might have to run an SFC scan by booting Windows 10 in Safe Mode.
3. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%LogsCBSCBS.log.
This message states that whatever issue your Windows PC is facing, has been resolved. So, restart your PC, and hopefully, it will work fine.
4. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%LogsCBSCBS.log.
In this case, you have no choice but to replace the corrupted files with new ones manually.
3. Repair With Windows Startup Repair
You can perform a Startup Repair in Windows 10 if you feel that your PC is taking longer than usual to boot up. Follow these steps and you will get it done in few minutes:
Press and hold the button SHIFT on your keyboard and click the button Restart on power options.

Now, on the boot screen, select the option Troubleshoot.

Next, click Advanced Options.

Finally, choose Startup Repair to start the repair process.

It took some time for Windows 10 startup repair to fix your problem, so now, you have no choice but to wait. Also, if it says it cannot fix your problem, then there is a possibility that there is nothing wrong with the Windows 10 OS on your PC.
4. Fix With Windows System Restore
Using the Windows System Restore feature, you can restore the state of your PC to an earlier point in time. However, to use this feature, you have to enable System Restore on Windows 10 and create a restore point in the past. And if there is no restore point, then, you cannot use this feature.
However, if you have a restore point, then you can use Windows System Restore very well to repair Windows 10 on PC. Also, it could be that Windows OS or some application might have created a restore point automatically which you can use.
5. Reset Windows 10
If, by any chance, none of the above methods worked for you, then you can reset Windows 10 on your PC. By doing this, you bring your PC back to its factory default state by reinstalling Windows 10. This means all apps will be deleted except those that were pre-installed with Windows 10.
However, you have to decide whether you want to keep your personal data or delete everything. And even if you choose not to save your data, I still suggest that you back up every important file as a precaution.
It is one of the best ways to get rid of malware and, as such, fix whatever is wrong with your PC.
So, those were all the possible methods that you can choose to repair corrupted files on Windows 10. And if none of the methods worked for you, then you have no choice but to reinstall Windows 10 on your PC.
