It’s fun to listen to a song that stirs the soul and stimulates adrenaline, eh.. I suddenly lost my mood because there was a notification from an application promotion… it definitely made me grumble to myself in my heart. If you have experienced the same thing as me, the only way to keep the notification sound from showing while listening to music is to switch to silent mode.
But using the trick to switch to silent mode is quite long and looks manual for today’s fully automated era. In this article I share different ways to turn off notification sound when listening to music on Android and it will run automatically.
What is MacroDroid?
It’s an automation app that has been on the Play Store since 2012. Whether it’s configuring NFC tags for cool automation or automating system level jobs, MacroDroid can ease your life manifold through understandable macros.
MacroDroid is free to download from the Play Store. Unlike Tasker, creating macros in this application is not complicated. This application requires two elements needed to create macros – Triggers and Actions.
Triggers are device events such as launching an app or activating device settings. On the other hand, Action is what the device will do once the trigger is activated.
Apart from that, there are lots of ready-made templates which you can set as per your convenience. The free version of MacroDroid lets you create up to five different macros. For more macros, you can upgrade to the Pro version for $2.50 as a one-time payment.
Now that you know about the app, let’s see how we can use it to disable notifications when playing music on Android.
How to Disable Notifications While Playing Music on Android
There is a way to turn off notifications whenever you play music on Android automatically. It only requires one time setup, and once done, you can say goodbye to annoying notifications.
The process will be carried out using the MacroDroid automation application. There are various automation applications. Some like Tasker and IFTTT are quite famous and even you must have known. However, MacroDroid is another app but it does the task without any complications.
First, a Macro will be created associated with the currently playing music. Next, we’ll attach a DND macro to that task. And create a reverse macro that will turn off DND mode as soon as the music stops. Here are the steps to turn off notifications automatically while listening to your favorite music on Android.
1. Download and install the MacroDroid application on your Android device from the button below.
2. Next tap on Add Macro and scroll to the Device events section.

3. Under that, select Music / Sound Playing. On the next pop-up that appears, select Started.
4. Now, go to tab Actions and tap Volume.
5. In it, select the option Priority Mode/Do Not Disturb.
6. You will then have to grant Do Not Disturb access to this app.

7. Once done, go back to the app, tap on Priority Mode/Do Not Disturb and select Allow Priority Notifications.
8. You can even add some exceptions for this event. For example, you can enter the desired date and time and make sure the event doesn’t launch a DND action at that time. I’ve been doing the same for my office hours so I don’t miss any important notifications.

9. If you want to do the same, tap on Constraints and head over to Date/Time. Enter the desired data into these two fields.
10. Finally, name this Macro it’s up to you and press OK.
There he is. You have managed to create a Macro which will automatically disable notifications as soon as you start playing your favorite music.
Now we are going to create another Macro which will automatically disable DND Mode as soon as you close your music player. Follow the steps below.

1. Open the MacroDroid app, tap on Add Macro to section triggers.
2. Tap Music/Sound Playing. This time choose Stopped from the pop-up that appears.
3. Next, go to Actions and tap on Priority Mode/Do Not Disturb.
4. Select Allow All from the menu and tap OK. There he is.
Red Thread | With this, you can successfully create two different Macros. The former will automatically turn off notifications as soon as you play music. The second, on the other hand, will disable DND mode when closing the music player. What do you think about this amazing feature of MacDroid automation app?
