This article explains how to save a Google Meetings meeting transcript. Google Meet has a built-in captioning feature that automatically generates transcripts of whatever participants say. This feature displays the transcription in real time but there is no option to save it.
Tactiq Pins for Google Meets is a Chrome extension that allows you to save meeting transcripts from Google Meetings. The main idea behind this extension is to give users the ability to embed specific segments of the transcript and export them. It extracts the transcript of the text feature and shows that in a floating tab where users can mark important segments.
When finished, the marked transcript can be exported to the clipboard, saved as a text file, or exported directly to Google Docs. There is one more export feature which opens the transcript in the Tactiq note editor where users can add extra bits to the transcript.
To save a Google Meeting transcript of a meeting, first, open the Chrome Web Store and search for “Tactiq Pins for Google Meets“, or you can directly download from here. After that add this extension to your browser.

Once added, click on the extension icon from the menu bar and sign in with your Google account. You are not bound to use the same account that you use in Google Meet. This account is for registering and for storing transcripts when exported to Google Docs. Log in to the extension first and then start the meeting.

When you open Google Meet with this extension configured, it opens a small window on the screen. This window is draggable meaning you can move and drop it anywhere on the screen.

The floating window is where it shows the transcript by pinning the text. When you have a meeting, turn on the auto text feature. The floating window shows the proper title and you can double click on any segment of the transcript to create a pin.
When you’re done with the meeting, click the extension icon again and select the export option to save the transcript. From there, you can copy the transcript to the clipboard, save to a TXT file, export to Google Docs, or save to Tactiq itself.

Saving the transcript to Tactiq takes you to the online editor of Tactiq and opens the transcript there. The editor shows pin segments immediately and hides the entire transcript with a single click. You can compile the transcript in the editor and add new notes to make everything more neat and organized.
