How MyHeritage App Works
Now, getting into the technical stuff, Nostalgia In MyHeritage is basically an AI based tool that animates faces. The company says it uses technology licensed from a company called D-ID, which specializes in video demonstration using deep learning techniques.
So, MyHeritage integrated the technology into the Deep Nostalgia tool “to bring faces to life in historical photos and create realistic, high-quality video footage” .
As a result, once you upload an image or photo or even a group image with multiple faces, the tool will fine-tune the image first and then apply “multiple possible motion sequences” to add realistic facial movements to still faces.
The MyHeritage app also works on color and black and white images. So yes, you can even upload very low quality images, for example your grandma or great-grandfather, and the tool will bring their faces to life too. And to do this, the developer programmed the tool to first fine-tune the uploaded image to get a high-resolution version of the image. After the upgrade process, it applies the motion model using deep learning techniques.
How to Use the MyHeritage App
Here’s how to use the MyHeritage application to make still photos come alive and move by animating them.
- Download and install first the MyHeritage app from the Google Play Store or from here.
- open MyHeritage app from your phone.
- Do not forget to login with your MyHeritage account.
- Then select a photo by tapping the menu Photos.
- Then tap the P . buttonplus (+) followed by tapping Add Photos. Now select a photo from your gallery. Continue by tapping on one of the photos and click Upload.
- Select photo that you uploaded earlier, then click leftmost button at the top to animate the photo. Wait for the process to finish.
- Once done, you can download the results by clicking the icon Download at the top right.
