How to Install Windows 11 on VMWare Workstation and Emulator – Windows 11, Microsoft’s newest operating system has leaked its ISO on the internet. This new operating system comes with many new features, including a much more modern UI (complete with attractive wallpapers) that will not only make the operating system run more smoothly but also make it more productive.

Windows 11 features a new Start Menu and a redesigned Taskbar, as well as other features that make the operating system look more modern. The leaked Windows 11 build number is 21996.1. The ISO file is 4.75 GB in size.

Here’s a guide on how to install Windows 11 on VMWare Workstation and on the emulator. Installing Windows 11 is pretty much the same as installing Windows 10 with the exception of a few new capabilities that are included in Windows 11.

There might be drawbacks as this is a leaked file and the first build of Windows 11, so it is recommended that you install Windows 11 using VMWare, such as VMWare Workstation or VMWare Virtual Box.

Download VMWare Workstation: Just go to the official website of the VMWare Workstation download page from here and select the installer for your Windows or Linux PC. Please always download the latest version of VMWare Workstation as it contains better improvements and, if there are any flaws, it will be fixed in the latest version.

Install VMWare Workstation: VMWare Workstation is quite easy to set up. To start the installation, simply double click on the installer. To make changes, it will ask for administrator rights; select Yes. It will then start the installation procedure before asking you to restart your computer. To restart your computer, select Yes.

Download Windows 11 ISOs: It’s easy to get Windows 11 ISO files. Windows 11 ISO files can now be found in various places. It’s easy to find these Windows 11 early build files. To get Windows 11 ISO file, you can use Google or Twitter. Or if it has been released then you can visit the official Windows site.

How to Setup VMWare for Windows 11

VMware works well if you have around 8 GB of RAM as it is a virtual machine and will share the resources of the host system. Now let’s take a look at the VMware Workstation settings for Windows 11.

  1. Open VMware Workstation. You will be greeted by a window which has three options. Click ‘create a new virtual machine‘.
  2. Next you are asked to choose whether you want to set a typical or custom configuration. select Typical and click Next.
  3. Now you are asked to find the iso file or install OS later. Choose an option Installer disc image file iso. Browse and select the Windows 11 iso file that you downloaded earlier.
  4. Select the operating system type. In this case, select Microsoft Windows and select the version as Windows 10 x64.
  5. Now you will be able to give your virtual machine a name. Just type any name or just type in Windows 11 and click Next.
  6. Here is the important part. You will now have to allocate a certain number of your storage drives to be used by the virtual machine. For Windows 11 you have to set at least 60 GB for storage. It will also include the space required to install Windows 11.
  7. The next dialog box allows customizing the hardware for your Windows 11 virtual machine. Click Customize Hardware and set the desired amount of RAM, Processor, etc. For optimal performance, set RAM to at least 8GB and click Close > Finish.
  8. Done, now you will get a screen in VMWare which will look like below. You will be able to see the specifications of your virtual machine on the left and the Power On option at the top.

  1. Open your VM and click on Power On and wait for some time. Click any key if prompted to enter the key to boot the iso.
  2. Now you will see the new Windows 11 logo followed by the language selection screen, date and keyboard layout.
  3. Clicking Next will take you to another window, where you can click the Install button.
  4. The next window will ask you for the activation key. You can skip it by clicking “I don’t have a product key”. Next you are taken to a window to select the operating system you want to install.
  5. Next, you have to accept the license agreement. The license agreement date in the staller points to June 2022. Accept the agreement by selecting the new checkbox and clicking Next and selecting the OS you want to install.
  6. Now select Custom Installation which then asks you to select the partition you want to install Windows 11 on and click Next.
  7. Now select the storage where you want to install the new Windows.
  8. Now the OS will be installed and wait for it to finish.

This can take some time depending on the speed of your system disk. It starts by copying the Windows files, then preparing the files ready for installation. Then proceed to install any features and updates it finds if you are connected to the internet.

After completing the installation, Windows 11 will reboot and now take you to the finalization screen. The screen here is new and has a white background with colorful icons. In this screen, you can select the region and Keyboard layout.

Now, With Windows 11, you have to sign in or create a Microsoft account which will give access to many Microsoft features. Also, it now requires you to set a PIN to login and access the system. Once done, you then have a privacy setting where you can choose to share or not share data with Microsoft.

Windows 11 brings a new customization experience settings. You can choose whether you will use the system for gaming, creativity, family, or schoolwork. And you will be asked if you want to back up your files to Microsoft OneDrive Cloud Storage or locally on the device.

Note that at this time the resolution will not be perfect and will look more square than rectangular. However, once you log into Windows 11, you can change the resolution by going to Settings > Display and then Change resolution.

You can also change the appearance of the VMWare window, click the Enter Fullscreen button to let the virtual machine run in full screen or you can also choose windowed mode.
