The only thing that can spoil a very rational mind is digital brightness. High screen brightness is not only visually distracting, it can also be mentally stressful. Luckily, we don’t have to put up with a bright screen as it can always be dimmed. However, lowering the brightness will decrease the quality of the consumable content. As a result, the procedure becomes counterproductive.
Is there a feature in Windows 11 to achieve optimal brightness levels while protecting our eyes and minds from a very bright screen? Of course there is! The Night Light feature is here to help us! You can increase brightness and enjoy a quiet digital journey while relaxing your eyes with this feature running in the background.
Night Light is a feature in Windows 11 that allows users to block the blue light emitted through the monitor’s LED screen that can damage the eyes. Since many screens don’t have this feature, Microsoft has built this feature in Windows 11.
How to Activate Windows 11 Night Light
To activate the Windows 11 Night Light feature, first click the “Start” button in the middle and select the “Settings” option represented by the gear icon.

The “System” settings will be the first page that appears. On this screen, select the first option, which is “Display”.

The System Display settings screen will now open. Navigate to the “Night Light” option and click the toggle bar in this section. This will go from “Off” to “On”.

Night Light is now active on your Windows 11 device. You will see a warm color, like a pale yellow sheet on all screens indicating this activation.
How to Change Night Light Brightness in Windows 11
Once the Night Light feature is on, you can change the brightness level of the Night Light. Here’s how.
In the same System Display settings page, click anywhere on the “Night Light” option.

Now, the “Night Light” Display settings page will appear with three sections. Navigate to the “Strength” section which has switches on a line that ranges from 1 to 100, one each from left to right. The closer you move this switch to 100, the warmer the Night Light glow.
How to Schedule Night Light in Windows 11
If you frequently use the Night Light feature, enabling this feature every time can take some time. To save time and organize a better workflow, you can schedule a Night Light. After scheduling, this feature will activate by itself at the specified time.
To schedule a Night Light, click the toggle bar in the “Schedule Night Light” option on the same “Night Light” settings page. Push the switch to “ON”.
There are two options for scheduling the Night Light. One is the default time setting according to your location and the other is the customizable option. The former will be automatically set between sunrise and sunset.
If you don’t like automatic scheduling, you can adjust the Night Light hours by selecting the “Set Hours” option.

The “Set Hours” option opens in two rows; “Turn on” and “Turn off”. The first is when you want the Night Light to turn on and the second, when you want to turn it off. Click on the time box to change the scheduling time.
Clicking the time box will open a timing pop-up. Here you can choose a schedule based on hours and minutes! You can also override the default AM and PM structure according to your preference. When you’re done, click the checkmark at the bottom of the pop-up.
