Google Meet has become the platform of choice for anyone working or studying from home amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. While working from home has its advantages, we rely on technology to connect and share with our coworkers.
One of the common problems that Google Meet users face is that they can’t share videos along with audio. The video you serve will play without any sound by default which puts the user in a rather frustrating situation.
Luckily there is a way to get around this problem and play videos on Google Meet with sound. And I will tell you not one but two ways to share videos on Google Meet with Audio.

1. How to Share Videos on Google Meet Using Google Chrome’s Share Tab
Chrome tab sharing is the official solution available for sharing videos on Google Meet with audio. You can use Chrome’s Present Tab option to present online video and audio to other Google Meet participants.
The basic benefit of this feature is that you can present a single Chrome tab that you have selected to the meeting participants. However, you can switch between tabs to select a different tab at any time.
You can follow the steps below to present a combination of video and audio to your Google Meet participants:
- Join Google Meet or start a new meeting.
- Click button Present Now which is usually at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on options Tab from the next menu and you will be taken to the list of current Chrome Tabs.
- Select the Chrome tab containing the video you want to serve, then click the button Share at the bottom right of the window. Don’t forget to check the option Share audio located at the bottom left of the window.
After that, Chrome will notify you that you are sharing tabs with Google Meet participants.
How to Switch Between Chrome Tabs
If you have multiple Chrome tabs, you can switch the tabs that you are sharing during a meeting on Google Meet through the following steps:
- Open the tab that you want to switch from the currently shared Chrome tab.
- Find the prompt at the top of the page that says Share this tab instead and click on it.
- Next confirm that you are now presenting the tab you have selected from the prompt.
2. How to Share Video on Google Meet via Windows microphone settings
One way to share video and audio at the same time on Google Meet is to change your Windows microphone settings. You can do it with the help of these steps:
- Open the Start menu and click options Settings.
- open System settings and then click options Sound in the left pane.
- Click Manage sound devices and find the input device (input device).
- Activate option Stereo Mix and while you are at it make sure the microphone option is available along with the Stereo Mix option.
- Now open Google Meet and click on settings, go to audio options and set Stereo Mix as your default microphone.
- Play the video you want to present, and your Google Meet participants should be able to hear the audio of the video you’re playing.
Bonus Trick: How to Share Audio on Google Meet Using Mobile
There is another option to share audio along with video by using your phone’s microphone to speak while the video is playing through your PC.
However, this feature is currently only available for Google Workplace hosts and normal users cannot access it. All you have to do is select the feature “Use phone for audio” which is available for Google Workplace hosts and your phone will now work as a microphone so you can talk through it while serving videos from your PC.

How to Stop Sharing Videos/presentations on Google Meet
Once you are done serving videos or Chrome tabs in Google Meet, you should finally stop serving them. Stopping your presentation is easy and all you have to do is this:
- Find the Presenting button at the bottom of the screen and click on it.
- Click on Stop presentation to stop your presentation.
- Finished.
While Google Meet is a great tool, it still lacks some functionality, such as the inability to share audio along with your videos. However, by using the solution that I have shared with you in this article, you can easily solve this problem and present clear audio with your videos.
My personal favorite is the tab sharing method as it doesn’t require any changes to settings and doesn’t require any special account type to use.
