Here’s a tutorial on how to create a mockup design in Canva. Canva Mockup Design is a product design for companies. This feature allows users to insert designs into any product mockup. As a result, realistic and smart mockups can be created.
This feature may be especially useful for small-scale entrepreneurs or anyone looking to save money on photos and designs. This feature focuses on the fashion, furniture, and technology categories. And best of all, this feature is available in both free and paid versions of Canva.

How to Design Mockups in Canva
How to Design Mockups in Canva: Click menu feature > application > select see all > select smart mockups > click button use in design.
If you start with a new design for your mockup, you can start right from the Application Directory. This will open your desired size in Canva and start designing your product mockup.
1. Launch Canva on any device and stay on the homepage. Now, hover over the tab “Feature” on the menu above the platform and click “See all” under “Application“.
2. You will now be redirected to the Canva App Directory. Smartmockups will be listed under “Polish your imageSwipe right and find smart mockups or type smartmockups in the search field for faster results.
3. For new designs. The Smart Mockup in the App Directory will open a short preview of the effect along with the “Use in designClick this button to open all available design sizes in Canva.
If what you are looking for is not here, you can adjust the size by selecting “Custom size” also.
Canva usually opens the selected design size with the default image.

If you want to use a Smart Mockup on an existing design, select your design from the “All your designs” menu options on the Canva homepage.
After that you will land on the main design page. Here, select the image you want in the smart product mockup, and click on the button “Edit pictures” at the top.
4. Scroll a bit on the image editing options to find Smart Mockups. Here, click the button “See all” so that you have a full view of all the available mockups.
5. Smart Mockups basically insert your designs into realistic product images. Select the product of your choice and Smart Mockups previews your product mockup on the right. You can also edit the design on the product by clicking on the icon “Control” (custom icon) on the selected Smart Mockup.
There are 3 Options to customize your image according to the product. Namely content, fit and custom

Contents: covers the entire marked part of the product with a slightly enlarged design.
- Fits: just paste the design on the product without enlarging it.

Custom: You can position your design on the product horizontally and vertically. You can manipulate the size of the design as well.
Customization works either by sliding the switch or manually entering the required number in the respective field. The higher the size, the bigger the pattern.
6. You can change the color of the rest of the products by clicking the box next to “Object color” (usually a white box, if the product is white).
The colors that are immediately visible in the context menu of this Mockup will include multiple document colors (if used in the previous design), default colors, and brand colors if any.
You may not always find the color you want here. In such a case, click the button “+” with a rainbow square line at the beginning of the palette.
Drag and place the white switch on the color spectrum to select a color, then adjust the shading and hue of the selected color in the rectangular color scheme. You can also use the color picker if you want the product to match the colors in the included image.

7. When finished, press the button “Apply” to apply all your changes.
