What Are Paint Effects in Canva?
Paint Effects is a unique paint technology that allows you to paint strokes on a 2D canvas to create a 2D image or texture, or paint to create a paint effect in 3D space.
Paint Effects lets you paint brush strokes and particle effects on a 2D canvas or on or between 3D geometries. You can use Paint Effects as a conventional painting program to paint pictures on canvas.
In Canva, paint effects work to turn your image or photo into a painting. You can even adjust the intensity of the predefined paint effects – Low, Medium, and High.

How to Use Paint Effects in Canva
Here are the steps to create a paint effect in Canva:
1. Launch the app Canva and open the image you want to give paint effect. Now, click on the image so that its blue bounding box appears and click on options Edit pictures just above the selected image.
2. In Edit image option, scroll down till you find the section You may also like. Now, choose Paint Effect in this section.
3. You will see a brief introduction to this feature in the same margin. Read on and press the button use at the end.
4. Scroll back to the top, above the section You might like it too. In Paint Effects, click the button See all next to the feature title to see all the paint effects.
Paint Effects offers a total of 11 different effects. Choose your favorite effect or experiment with all effects.
5. Once done, you can directly apply the effect by clicking the button Apply or customize the effect by clicking the icon adjust (control) in the middle of the selected effect.
Sometimes, an effect tends to be a little too much and fails to give the authentic effect of a painting. In such cases, changing the intensity of the effect can help.
6. Click button radio ahead of a predetermined intensity – Low, Medium and High. Drag switch on the slider Intensity to increase or decrease the selected intensity.
7. You can also type numbers less than 1 in the small box next to Intensity if you need a specific number that may not be possible with a slider.
8. If you want to start over, click on the button Reset. When finished, press the button Apply.
