How to Add Netflix as a Game to Discord

Discord does not detect and use Netflix streaming sources (browser or app) automatically. You have to manually add it as a game to Discord and keep it enabled whenever you want to stream movies or TV shows.

1. Launch the Discord app and click on the gear icon in the lower left corner next to your Discord username.

2. When Settings opens, click the “Game Activity” tab on the left under the “Game Settings” heading.

3. In the right pane, click on “Add It” next to the text “Not seeing your game” to open a drop-down menu for adding a browser.

How to Disable Hardware Acceleration in Browser

When using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge to stream Netflix or other video platforms, you should turn off Hardware Acceleration. Otherwise, streaming in the Discord app will just show viewers a black screen.

Google Chrome

1. In Chrome, click the three-dot menu icon found in the upper-right corner of the window, then select “Settings.”

1. Open Netflix in the browser of your choice. Log in and play any video.

2. Next, open the Discord server that you created to stream Netflix to watch movies with your friends.

3. Click the Screen Share icon located just above User Settings to adjust the streaming video settings.

4. The Screen Sharing settings window will appear. The app automatically selects a resolution of 720p, along with a frame rate of 30-frames per second.
