8 Advantages and New Features of iOS 13

Apple finally announced iOS 13 at the WWDC 2022 stage. The company also explained about some of the new things in the latest software for this iPhone.

iOS 13 will be available on iPhone devices starting from the iPhone 6S, meaning the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 will not get the iOS 13 update.

Senior Vice President Apple Craig Federighi explained, Apple brought several additions to iOS 13 and this software offers several advantages over the previous one.

“One of the improvements is the long-awaited dark model, increased capacity, and many other changes,” Federighi said as quoted from The Verge, Tuesday (4/6/2022). Here are some of the new features in iOS 13:

Performance Advantage

Along with last year’s iOS 12 update, Apple prioritized adding performance to iOS 13, especially for older devices.

With this iOS 13 update, Apple promises, Face ID will unlock 30% faster. Apart from that, apps will open 2x faster on this iOS.

Dark Model

Apple brought the dark model to iOS 13. This is probably the biggest visual update that Apple has made, since iOS was introduced.

All applications owned by Apple support the use of the dark model, even the notification dock is adjusted to the dark model.

Newest Swipe Keyboard

While Apple has offered support for third-party keyboards on iOS over the years, the company is updating its standard keyboards with new features.

This feature is a swipe, like on the SwiftKey, Swype, or Gboard keyboards that have been around for years. Apple calls this swipe keyboard with the name “Quick Path”.

Reminder feature

After a long delay, Apple brought the Reminder update to iOS 13. Apple added the “Today”, “Scheduled”, “Flagged”, and “All” functions as filtering options for sorting jobs.

Apart from that, in this Reminder, Apple brings a new look. AI-integrated Reminder, when the user writes a reminder it will give an opinion on something to be reminded.

Users can also tag contacts and be reminded when they open a thread in “Message”.

Apple Mail, Notes, and Safari updates

Apple revamped some of its main apps in iOS 13. Apple Mail is set to get a new desktop formatting. After that, Safari acquires site-by-site preferences.

Next, Notes gets a new gallery view to view all user-generated notes at once.

Apple Maps More Accurate

Apple really brought a new update to Apple Maps through iOS 13.

The company says they are rebuilding the app from scratch, with more in-depth map data and a new model similar to Google Street View.

The new Maps will be available in selected cities and begin rolling out in the United States in late 2022 and globally in 2022.

Privacy is more guaranteed

For Apple, privacy is a big side. Where, users can choose to give their location data to the app “once” to prevent it from always pinging the place while the user is using the device.

Apple brings the “Sign in with Apple” feature. This feature will be available for developers to log into applications and services, where users will enter Face ID and create new accounts for services without revealing any personal information.

Not only that, Apple accounts can automatically create new e-mail addresses per application. This is to prevent the application from gaining access to the user’s e-mail, or delivering spam messages.

Profile Picture on iMessage App

iMessage now looks like a profile picture and display name like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Thus, users can share names and photos with other iMessage users.

Not only that, users can also use Memoji for profile pictures. Apple provides additional options for customizing Memojis and turning them into iMessage stickers.

This sticker pack from Memoji can also be used in other applications such as Mail to 3rd faction applications.

New Tool to Convert Photos and Videos

Apple brought a new interface for editing photos and videos on iOS. Users can edit several groups such as highlights, shadows, contrast, saturation, white balance, sharpness, definition, vignette, and others.

The user can also change the video playback directly on the device.

The Photos app gets a new interface that leverages machine learning to remove multiple photos of the same.
