The Rock Rejects Black Adam's Cameo in Shazam 2!

Shazam 2or the official title Shazam! Fury of the Godsis one of the films live action DC Universe which is scheduled to air in 2023. The sequel film, directed by David F. Sandberg and starring Zachary Levy, will involve a number of top Hollywood actors.

But of the many names involved, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is not one of them, even though in the DCU itself he plays Black Adam, Shazam’s nemesis in DC Comics.

Johnson recently appeared as Teth Adam in the latest DCU film entitled Black Adam. As he promised, Black Adam’s debut will change the power hierarchy in the DCU, at least on Earth.

Because he is one of the humans who finally gets the blessing of six gods at once, like his nemesis in the comics, namely Billy Batson who becomes Shazam. The existence of his character in the DCU has led to speculation that Black Adam will make a cameo in the sequel Shazam 2. Unfortunately, this idea was actually rejected by Johnson himself.

Recently, Umberto Gonzales from The Warp reports that Johnson was actually offered a cameo role in Shazam 2 by Warner Bros. and DC. However, it turned out that he preferred to turn down the exciting opportunity.

“The Rock passed up the opportunity to do a cameo in Shazam 2 when he was asked to,” wrote Gonzales on account Twitter personal. It was not stated in detail what Johnson’s reason for rejecting this was.

Recent claims from parties The Warp this isn’t the first time Johnson has been reported as disinterested in Shazam’s character. Previously they also said that Johnson did not want Black Adam’s character to be associated with Shazam.

He and his team were even reported to have intentionally asked for scenes that alluded to his character’s name in the film Shazam first to be removed from the final version showing in theaters. Now, with the DCU moving forward, it’s still unknown when Shazam and Black Adam will meet.

Especially now that it’s been reported that DC Studios will soon overhaul the entire DCU cinema universe. Despite this polemic, even though Black Adam will not appear in the film Shazam 2, but Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has already been confirmed to have a cameo in the film. Let’s just look forward to the excitement, during the movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods airs on March 17, 2023.
