One Piece: Facts About the Seraphim!
The navy has new weaponry and technology this time. They are the result of the development of a special unit in the navy in which Vegapunk is the leader. We know this in the point in chapter 1059, where it was revealed in the chapter that the Amazon Lilly island was under massive attack and surrounded by the navy.
To catch Boa Hancock, the navy then deployed their newest weapon, the Seraphim. And it is proven, the latest weapon belonging to the navy is very powerful. In fact, they managed to destroy the Amazon Lilly island. Also interesting is how Boa Hancock, and even Blackbeard, can’t afford to beat them. So, what exactly is a Seraphim?
More Powerful Version
In short, the Seraphim is a much more powerful version of the previous Pacifista model. As we know, Pacifista is a technology made by Vegapunk for the navy. Its purpose is as an additional force for the navy to capture various powerful pirates, such as the former Shichibukai. The appearance of the Pacifista itself first occurred in the Sabaody arc.
The Pacifista is one of the strongest weapons in the series. Pacifista themselves are commonly called “Human Weapons”. Just as the name suggests, they are a very powerful robot. It takes as much equipment as a full ship to make a Pacifista. These Pacifistas have a visual program that specifically searches for pirates on the quest list.
When they have found their target, they will shoot a powerful laser from its mouth. However, unlike the previous model, for this latest model their power level is different. How Boa Hancock and the Kuja tribe seem overwhelmed against them, and Blackbeard who is also surprised, is proof that the Seraphim are much stronger than the previous Pacifista.

However, most likely the latest Pacifista model which has the name ‘Seraphim’ is the result of the development of the SSG or Special Science Group. In the story there is a little explanation if SSG is an organization or group created by Dr. Vegapunk, the most genius figure in the One Piece story.
Besides SSG, Vegapunk is also likely involved in the creation of the Seraphim. This is because he was the one who also created the Pacifista. The SSG group itself was deliberately formed to replace the Shichibukai’s position as one of the greatest forces in the series. For now, unfortunately, there is not much information that Oda has presented about the SSG organization.
The latest facts then appeared in the latest chapter yesterday, where the island of Egghead may be the place where Vegapunk created the Seraphim. In fact, other Seraphim may still be stored on the island. We know this when Helmeppo and Hibari asked their superior, Prince Grus, to lend one of the Seraphim to help free Koby who was kidnapped by Blackbeard.

Using Lunarian Race DNA?
One of the biggest questions that arise among fans regarding Seraphim is whether Vegapunk and SSG use Lunarian race DNA? Not without reason, speculation among fans appears. What’s interesting about this latest Pacifista model is its appearance. They appear to have black wings and have a dark brown skin color. Judging from the characteristics of the Pacifista Seraphim, this reminds us of the figure of King.
Given what happened to King earlier, where he had been the subject of Vegapunk’s research, it is possible that King’s Lunarian race DNA became the basis for developing the Seraphim. The Lunarian race itself is believed to have been extinct for a long time and they had lived above the Red Line, before Mary Geoise stood firmly there. They have the nickname as the race of the gods, because they are able to survive in various conditions and terrain.
These Lunarian races also have the ability to control fire and have the ability to regenerate or heal. This may be the reason why Vegapunk is interested in researching about King. And the results of his development he then applied to the Seraphim, as we see in the story.
Looks like Shichibukai
There are other interesting things about Seraphim regarding his appearance. In addition to having physical characteristics similar to the Lunarian race, the face of this Seraphim also turned out to be surprising. They have faces that are very similar to the Shichibukai when they were children. What distinguishes it is in the pupil of his eye there is an asterisk, which indicates that it is not human.
The previous Pacifista model has a similar shape to the former Shichibukai, namely Bartholomew Kuma. However, for the Seraphim version itself, it was revealed that they had the form of a child. More precisely, they have a form similar to the former Shichibukai when they were children. An example is the Seraphim who attacked Amazon Lily very much like Boa Hancock when she was a child.
It is still unknown why the Seraphim’s form is so similar to the former Shichibukai as a child. The most logical answer is again similar to what happened to King. In King’s flashback in chapter 1035, it was revealed how young Kaido escaped from the World Government’s facility lab. However, before escaping, he then saved another figure, namely Alber / Arbel, which Kaido named King.
They were both the subject of Vegapunk’s research. The same thing also seems to happen to Boa Hancock and the other Shichibukai.
