Updates reported about future WWE NXT TakeOver

With the “NXT” name change on the horizon, it looks like the old has become new again.

Bryan Alvarez reported on Wednesday’s “Wrestling Observer Live” that the upcoming “NXT” Halloween Havoc event is now referred to as the “NXT” Takeover. According to Fightful SelectTakeOver “NXT”: Halloween Havoc is scheduled for Saturday, October 22 and will be a premium WWE live event.

Last Year’s Halloween Mess was a special episode of the weekly show “NXT”, featuring Tommaso Ciampa defending the “NXT” Championship against current champion Bron Breakker. It was also the event where supporters of the “NXT” Women’s Tag Team Division, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne, started their first reign with the brand’s Women’s Tag Team Title.

TakeOver is a classic name for the special network “NXT”, which used the brand from 2014 to 2021. NXT has entered the “2.0” era, which saw a more colorful logo, as well as more colorful characters in the dressing room. While “NXT” is still led by WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s promotion to Chief Content Officer has led to something of a revival of longtime executive views promoting development.

Prior to Triple H’s appearance, “NXT” had undergone an almost ominous name change. After the brand failed to compete with “AEW Dynamite” on Wednesday, the brand was moved to Tuesday night where it moved closer to WWE’s premier lineup. This weekend’s featured episode of the “NXT” logo turns gold, suggesting a return to tradition for the once black and gold brand.
